As usual, the Reality Based Community shows that the kool aid they drink is laced with PCP, creating an alternated reality that never ends
American neoconservatives have often used the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to bolster their case for aggressive action against Iran. So the assumption might be that they would be rooting for Iranians to take care of the problem themselves by electing reformer Mir Hossein Mousavi in today’s vote..
Instead, they’re rooting for the anti-American bogeyman to stay in power.
About the only thing the Left understands about the word “neoconservatives” is that “neoconservatives” support Israel. Beyond that, it’s just a word they like to use that they do not understand, like tolerance, compassion, decency, and sanity, among others. Funny that they call the Holocaust Museum shooter a neocon, when he plainly hates Jews and Israel.
Even the headline makes little sense “Right Wing Neocons Rooting For Ahmadinejad Win.” Does that mean there are left wing neocons?
In order to bolsterinvent her point, Rachel Weiner (Whiner?) manages to misunderstood (no shocker there!) a massive amount of “neocons” and what they have said and wrote. What? It was 2? Oh.
As Don Surberpoints out “She stretched a point Daniel Pipes made about Ahmadinejad waking up Europe to the seriousness of the Iranian threat.”
Kathryn Jean Lopez and her opinion was similarly misCONstrued. No shocker there.
Then we get the ultimate strawman arguement
Other neocons, worried a shift in power will signal a fresh start relations with Iran, are already deflating a Mousavi win. The same pundits who constantly point out Ahmadinejad’s Holocaust denial, anti-Semitism, and nuclear ambitions as reasons to confront Iran now argue that the president doesn’t matter.
So, because there is not all that much difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi where it counts for the USA, their foreign policy, that means we are “rooting” for Ahmadinejad? Jeez, when dealing with the Left, that old saying “Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience” applies.
Ahmadinejad is the face of a regime that we “right-wing neocons” tried to warn the left and the world about. Heck, Ahmadinejad warned the left and the world about where he and Iran stood and what they wanted to do. For all these long years, the Left and the world blindly turned away, for the most part.
Too bad several rational liberals are buying the kool aid.
[…] story is almost, but not quite as stranged as this one from William Teach. The Left thinks Neocons want Iran to re-elect […]
How absolutely insane of the left to think that neocons want Ahamdinejad to win. Just because one of the leading neocons writes an article entitled “Rooting for Ahmadinejad”.
Since when does rooting for someone to win mean that you want them to win?
Since when does seeing someone’s election as helpful to your goals mean that you want them to win?
How utterly idiotic of the Left.
