Michelle Malkin did her usual wonderful job in pre-covering the DREAM Act in the Senate today, which should vote soon (they’re voting on whether to start work on a bill that allows public safety workers to unionize at the moment), and points to this
THE 10-YEAR WORK PERMITS FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT QUALIFY
1. Application: The DREAM amnesty begins with illegal aliens filling out applications. They merely have to claim — not provide evidence — that they meet criteria of having been brought to the U.S. before age 16 and being under the age of 30 at time of enactment and being present in the U.S. at least 5 years before enactment of the amnesty, among other criteria.
2. Work Permits Given: Upon filing the application, the illegal aliens are given a 10-year work permit to compete directly with the 22 million Americans who want a full-time job but can’t find one.
Estimates suggest that up to 2 million illegal aliens could legitimately qualify for the opening application, and perhaps a couple million more might be or look young enough to fraudulantly apply.
Those millions would immediately be able to legally compete for any U.S. job…
I guess no one told all the young in college idiots who support this that they would be competing for a job with those who came here illegally. and
On the House side, debate on the measure is expected to begin late Wednesday afternoon, though a formal vote has yet to be scheduled.
How’s that roll call going? No running tally, but, you can watch on CSPAN-2 when it starts.
More: Via MM’s Tweet, no Senate vote till House votes, which could be awhile.
6:42pm – House voting on rules of debate right now, really close. Final tally 211-208. 37 Dems vote not.
718pm – Debating DREAM Act right now. Caught Sheila Jackson Lee saying illegals just want to pledge allegiance to the flag. Can we keep the illegals and send the Democrats to Mexico?
9pm – looks like this passes the House 216-198. Now on to the Senate. Keep digging your graves, Dems, keep digging
[…] Senate Debating DREAM Act, House May Do Same Late This Afternoon … […]
so far at 8pm central, 4 repubs have voted in favor of amnesty for illegals. And, we have 32 dems who are voting no.
202-182 thus far
there is hope that this will die in the Senate.
8 Repubs now voted in favor. Kick em out of office.
Many repubs didn’t bother to show up. One from my district who ran for and won as governor. But in this, her vote mattered but decided that redecorating the governor’s mansion was higher priority!!
Dream Act has won and our society has further crumbled once again!!
