Tuesday’s strongest statements came from the Republican commissioners, who said the agency is overstepping its authority and attempting to act as a lawmaking body.
“The FCC is not Congress. We cannot make laws,” said Republican Commission Robert McDowell, describing Tuesday as “one of the darkest days in FCC history.”
“The era of Internet regulatory arbitrage has dawned,” he said.
He also predicted the effort will get shot down in court.
The legislation has something for everyone to hate. It still begs the question, why is this necessary? Because a few people complained? Messing it up for everyone else. Of course, the point is not free speech or any other high minded principles, but, simply another way for government to expand their influence over everything, particularly a segment in which others have spent their money developing, expanding, and running.

All this does is open up the door to allow for internet control and regulation. This allows internet to be stated as a right for everyone and that internet should be subsidized for the poor. Just more gov’t handouts to allow the gov’t to control more things.
Just let it go and be free and open to market forces. Let the power of the consumer control the market.

This is not about “net neutrality,” this is about power and control. They establish the precedent that they control the internet, and the next step is granting “rights” to communicate over it, as well as the “right” for every crack house and illiterate welfare bum to have free access paid for by working people’s tax dollars.
The worst thing about this is that the web may gradually become part of the political fights or government programs. And the end of an open and free Internet is now only moments away.
