Lately, we’ve been hearing more and more about “food security” in relation to “climate change. No matter that it seems that cold weather (undoubtedly caused by someone driving an SUV) does more damage to crops quicker than hot weather, “food security” has quickly risen to overtake the previous attempt to make it all about “biodiversity” during 2010. The climate morons continuously attempt to link everything, and create concern, if not panic, with globull warming.
Over at Google News, there are 20,600 stories about “food security“, at the time of writing this post. Sometimes they mention “climate change” or “global warming,” other times, they are hiding it. One of the reasons for the revolts and demonstrations in the Middle East is “food security.” Then we have
Rising food prices are at a dangerous level, and global cooperation is needed to tackle the increasingly challenging issue, World Bank Group President Robert B. Zoellick said on Tuesday.
Global food prices “threaten tens of millions of poor people around the world,” Zoellick told reporters at a teleconference here in Washington. “Now food security is a global security issue. ”
According to data released by the Washington-based international financial institution, rising food prices have driven an estimated 44 million people into poverty in developing countries since last June as food costs continue to rise to near 2008 levels.
Is food security real? You bet. No matter whether the climate is warm, cool, whatever, food is rather necessary for life. Food security is an issue for all. Heck, how many commercials has Glenn Beck had for food security? I think Sean Hannity has them, too, but, I rarely get to listen to his show. The above article does avoid blaming man caused “climate change. Then you have
Climate change could put trillions of investment dollars at risk over the next 20 years, a global study released on Wednesday said, calling for pension funds and other investors to overhaul how they allocate funds.
“Weather events like the recent floods in Australia will continue to impact infrastructure, food security and property, contributing to material portfolio risk for institutional investors,” Chief Executive Nathan Fabian told Reuters.
The climate always causes things to happen. Such is life on Earth, as it’s been for 4 billion years. A glaciation period would certainly cause issues with food security, would it not? Even a little ice age, such as we came out of around 160 years ago, causes food security issues. It was a major reason the Vikings died out on Greenland, as the climate grew too cold to raise their crops. It created issues in Europe, where it was too cool to properly grow wheat, leading to the rise of the potato.
Grist tells us that the world is one poor harvest away from chaos. As cold weather destroys or damages harvest, they could be right. Of course, the alarmists were telling us that it was warming that would do this. Now it is cold caused by man-induced global warming.
“It is scary. Hotter climate is reducing agricultural yield in India and the situation is bad compared to other parts of the world,†said V Prakash, director of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) on Friday. He added that every one degree rise in temperature is reducing agricultural yield by 10%, and rice and wheat are some of the important crops that are the victims of this climate change.
I wonder what reduced temperatures would do? What these folks do not get is that the climate will always change. Perhaps in some far flung time period, controlling weather, which creates climate, will be possible in reality, not just in science fiction writings.
BTW, India is on its way to a record wheat crop.
Using AGW for cover Progressives to mandate ethanol production, which drives down corn supplies, which drives up food prices, which causes “food insecurity,” which Progressives use as “proof” of AGW.
I’ve been wrong all along – Progressives are god-like in their ability to control everything …
