Obama uses this week’s weekly address to continue the efforts of his 19th pivot to the economy
Hi everybody. On Wednesday, I spoke about what we need to do as a country to build a better bargain for the middle class – to make sure everyone who works hard has a chance to get ahead in the 21st century economy.
You see, over the past four and a half years, America has fought its way back from the worst recession of our lifetimes. We saved the auto industry, took on a broken health care system, invested in new American technologies to reverse our addiction to foreign oil, and changed a tax code too skewed in favor of the wealthiest at the expense of working families.
As a result, our businesses have created 7.2 million new jobs over the past 40 months. We produce more renewable energy than ever, and more natural gas than anyone. Health care costs are growing at the slowest rate in 50 years. Our deficits are falling at the fastest rate in 60 years.
Do we really need to go through all the issues in the economy yet again, which are in direct contrast to this disingenuous yammering by PBO?
Reversing these trends must be Washington’s highest priority. It sure is mine. But over the past couple of years in particular, Washington has taken its eye off the ball. An endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals shift focus from what needs to be done. And as Washington prepares to enter another budget debate, the stakes could not be higher. The choices we make now will determine whether or not every American has a fighting chance in the 21st century.
There’s that phony scandals yap yap again. Tell that to those who died in Benghazi. And from Fast and Furious. Those targeted by Executive Office agencies.
And as long as I have the privilege of holding this office, I will spend every minute of every day doing everything in my power to make this economy work for working Americans again; to build that better bargain for the middle class; to make sure that the American Dream is something that’s achievable for everybody – not just today, but for decades to come.
Funny, because he’s spending the weekend at Camp David, supposedly “working”. The press was not allowed, as the 1st Family hosts the families of members of Obama’s cabinet. Who wants to bet that we hear about Obama playing golf today?
Then he will take a vacation. And this pivot will be forgotten. Again.

You lost me at HI. No president of a massive 1st world Super Power nation should talk like this. I bet he waved his hand like a happy geek too when he said it. What do you wanna bet he tucks his pajama shirt in to his underwear too. Man is a complete embarrassment.
So, that’s why he wants to raise taxes on them, to force them in to 2-10x more expensive but less reliable healthcare system, to force them to decide between Air Conditioning and filling their car with gas. Am sure those now on foodstamps and welfare are real happy with your plans.
We fought, but you fought against us. Our recovery would have been 3 years ago without your insistence that it be longer. It was part of your plans that brought us to this recession. It definitely has kept us here.
Yeah, that’s why the city of the auto industry is seeking bankruptcy. But, can you really claim you saved it when you had to break many laws to bail them out with money no voter approved of giving them? But then again, I think it is against the constitution for the Feds to give money to private industries.
No, i’m addicted to domestic oil. It tastes better. And, no, you didn’t invest in domestic oil. You’ve been blocking it you liar and pissant.
Yeah, that’s called using the weight of the federal government to penalize a certain segment of the population because they chose to be wealthy, or became wealthy. Oh, and I am lower middle-class and my taxes went up last 2 years. F*CK YOU Butthead!!
Liar. Liar. Liar. You’ve lost 3x that when they exited the workforce. YOu’ve lost that much from constriction of the economy. Most of those are part-time and federal jobs. Get over it. You killed us you arsehole.
And that means what? 3% is still 3%. And people pay for it even if they never see the power from it. How is that good for the consumer? People don’t want their energy costs to skyrocket, esp if they don’t see anything from it. Brownouts are still a major problem.
And that is all thanks to private industry. All without your federal mingling. So, F* you very much. And yet the feds are still battling against the transport of the gas and its products.
and will make it much more broke, broken and busted. Will ruin the best most advanced health care providing system in the world.
Liar. My rates have gone up each and every year, my copay has gone up as well. My % of service paid has gone down. I hate lies. Do people actually believe this stuff despite what their own pocketbooks show?
Ummm.. they’re staying the same… HIGH. They’re still over 1TRILLION!!!! highest ever.. EVER! EVER!!!
