Dear daughter, let Miley Cyrus be a lesson to you

Yes, this is what happens when you constantly hear everything you do is awesome. This is what happens when people fawn over your every Tweet and Instagram photo. This is what happens when no responsible adult has ever said the word “no,” made you change your clothes before leaving the house, or never spanked your butt for deliberate defiance.

If you ever even consider doing something like that, I promise you that I will run up and twerk so you will see how ridiculous twerking looks. I will duct tape your mouth shut so your tongue doesn’t hangout like an overheated hound dog. I will smack any male whom you decide to smash against his pelvis – after I first knock you on your butt for forgetting how a lady acts in public.

Why would I do that? Because I love you and I want you to respect yourself. Miley Cyrus is not edgy or cool or sexy. She’s a desperate girl screaming for attention: Notice me. Tell me I’m pretty. See how hot I am. I know all the guys want me. All the girls want to be me.

Now, is it necessarily fair to make Miley the subject? Well, sure, this is life, which ain’t fair. Miley was probably the last straw regarding a society that tolerates this kind of trash. There was also Lady Gaga running around on stage wearing a thong, further taking time to talk to other attendees wearing same thong and making sure it was captured on camera (you want that link, search it). Music has always been edgy, but it has truly gone trash. Remember the Britney Spears meltdown? How about Lindsay Lohan? Madonna? Kinda makes me pine for the good old days when musical artists were just doing drugs and alcohol. The big problem here is that the music is aimed at young teens, who need not be exposed to this kind of trash.

This seems to be what society has been moving towards. Remember the horrendous Beyonce Super Bowl halftime? The Lonely Conservative wrote at the time

It was unanimous in the LC home, we all hated the Super Bowl halftime show. Beyonce’s outfit, if you can call it that, was extremely slutty, and she gyrated around like an animal in heat. The music wasn’t even good. The only thing missing was a stripper pole.

I was appalled by the slutty , lewd sexually explicit type “show”. No modesty, no smiles, but sneers, haughtiness and proud looks, and it gets worse each year, it seems. The NFL should be ashamed of this Sodom and Gomorrah they promote. I seldom watch halftime shows on super bowls. I would rather see marching bands, or modest music, and singers. We are in a declining, dying culture.

This is all an extension of the “if it feels good, do it” culture, regardless of how it looks to others and regardless of its effects on others. Liberals and feminists more and more want to turn young women into sexualized adults, rather than just letting them be kids. And then these same liberals and feminists are shocked that women are treated more and more as sex playthings, even though they created the atmosphere where women sexualize themselves, put racy pictures and vids, including pornography, on-line. There’s a big difference between sex appeal and sexual objectification. Quite frankly, young teens and pre-teens shouldn’t have to worry about either.
