I told you the other day about how Warmists are making a concerted push with the “inequities” meme. I’ve seen a bunch of tweets regarding #COP19 along those same lines. Now, here comes the NY Times, which apparently received the memo about the meme
Growing Clamor About Inequities of Climate Crisis
Following a devastating typhoon that killed thousands in the Philippines, a routine international climate change conference here turned into an emotional forum, with developing countries demanding compensation from the worst polluting countries for damage they say they are already suffering.
From the time a scientific consensus emerged that human activity was changing the climate, it has been understood that the nations that contributed least to the problem would be hurt the most. Now, even as the possible consequences of climate change have surged — from the typhoons that have raked the Philippines and India this year to the droughts in Africa, to rising sea levels that threaten to submerge entire island nations — no consensus has emerged over how to rectify what many call “climate injustice.â€
Growing demands to address the issue have become an emotionally charged flash point at negotiations here at the 19th conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which continues this week. (snip)
Although the divide between rich and poor nations has bedeviled international climate talks for two decades, the debate over how to address the disproportionate effects has steadily gained momentum. Poor nations here are pressing for a new effort that goes beyond reducing emissions and adapting to a changing climate.
So, much of the article goes along in the same vein. The inequity meme is part of the “climate justice” progressive talking point, deriving from their “social justice” beliefs, which come from their need to create more and more Big Government.
And what these “developing countries” want is $$$. Lots of it. Because they’ve done so great with all the money we’ve given them for other things. And because Bad Weather is never supposed to happen and the climate is always supposed to stay static.
wt,
Did you read the article? The author made it clear that it’s very unlikely there will be reparations, whether they would be justified or not. He further explained why they’re unlikely to get reparations.
In issues of justice it is not relevant to speculate on what the harmed party would do when paid what they’re owed. If you sue me for damages, courts have no right to take into consideration what you’ll do with the proceeds.
Bottom line: Developing nations have been harmed and will continue to be disproportionately harmed by global warming, mostly caused by wealthy nations BUT there will be no compensation. Life’s not always fair.
Give it a rest J. No one believes this horse-crap any more. You Socialists can keep up the mantra, but the more you do, the more desperate you all sound. It’s pathetic really that any human would espouse these beliefs.
Blaming the breathing of one human as the cause of another human’s misery. Grow up. Grow a pair. Learn to live on your own merits and quit blaming others for your complete and utter failure of a life.
Fuzzy balls,
Did you not read the article either?
How about those freak killer November tornadoes?
Regarding what? That’s like asking, “Did you not read The Post?”
there is nothing freaky about tornados in November. What’s your point? Besides, I didn’t even hear of any.
Jeffery- “developing nations will be disproportionately harmed by global warming.” So what? Then they’d be disproportionately harmed by global cooling, also. Any economic damage will be “disproportionate by its’ very nature, right?. You’re saying nothing, as usual. “How about those freak killer tornadoes?” I don’t know, how about them? You’re sure they never happened in the 4.5 billion years before now? And maybe, just maybe, part of the reason they’re “killers” is because there’s more people in the way? And I know you’re too dense to know this, but obviously correlation doesn’t equal causation.
For those who remember, just a few weeks ago Jeffy kept saying that tornados were not an indication of AGW because the number of tornados has dropped.
Now, he pulls out tornadoes support AGW.
Such is the intellectual (dis)honesty of the AGW cultists.

Nothing freaky about them, this has happened many times before, there being a second tornado season in the northern part of the country in the fall. You get warm moist air meeting cold dry air. This happens pretty much every year.
In this case, you had a big cold front coming down into the country. But, we know you Warmists like to make every weather event about “climate change”. If only you’d give up your big carbon lifestyles, this would stop Bad Weather.
Well, as I watched football all day Sunday (yes, from 9am to 11pm), I didn’t learn about the tornados till I browsed Drudge Report late in the evening.
Football mentioned that the Chicago Bears game was delayed over an hour, and mentioned that there was a fear of a local tornado at the stadium, but nothing at all crossed the football airwaves about all that day’s tornadic activities.
My heart and prayers go out to the people of the lake states.
