Real? Not Real? You decide for yourself
(The Blaze) The “real reason†the White House has yet to release photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse is because U.S. troops “took turns dumping magazines-worth of ammunition†into the terror leader’s body, according to a new SOFREP report. Citing unnamed sources within the special ops community, the report alleges bin Laden “had over a hundred bullets in him, by the most conservative estimate.â€
Lest you think this is just The Blaze, the article originated at the Huffington Post, which worries about “savagery” from US military personnel
Initial reports claimed two shots were fired to kill bin Laden. While that number climbed in later reports, the claims of “over a hundred bullets” would suggest a level of savagery and, as SOFREP puts it, “self-indulgence” not admitted in prior accounts of the operation. SOFREP notes these actions would violate the Laws of Land Warfare and build on a disturbing trend of alarmingly brutal military behavior that includes graphic evidence of U.S. troops burning and urinating on slain enemy combatants.
But an extreme degree of violence would explain why U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration was so resistant to release a set of photos, for fear of a possible backlash against U.S. interests.
Whatever.
We don’t know if any of this is true as it comes from anonymous sources.
The report on the SOFREP blog was highly critical of the soldiers’ actions, assuming the story to be true, and calling the actions “criminal”.
“However, what happened on the Bin Laden raid is beyond excessive. The level of excess shown was not about making sure that Bin Laden was no longer a threat. The excess was pure self-indulgence.
You may not care if Bin Laden got some extra holes punched in him, few of us do, but what should concern you is a trend within certain special operations units to engage in this type of self-indulgent, and ultimately criminal, behavior. Gone unchecked, these actions get worse over time.
The real issue is not that Bin Laden was turned into Swiss cheese, but rather that this type of behavior has become a Standard Operating Procedure in this unit. Of course, these attitudes and behaviors do not come out of nowhere. Endless back-to-back combat deployments, PTSD, broken families, and war itself all plays into it.”

bogus and I’m betting pushed by the anti-military socialists.
War is hell, Jeff. It’s not lollipops and unicorns.
I call BS. No legitimate source. SEALS were on Camera. Too many people watching. Why waste ammo before mission was complete. No other pattern of this kind. Most of this SEAL team died later so they can no longer refute this lie. They knew they would return with the body and need to identify it. “The thing about stories on the internet is you cannot verify their validity.” Abraham Lincoln
