William Teach?

Someone sent me an email, wondering why I was using the name “William Teach.” She got the reference to Blackbeard the Pirate, but, as she informed me, his name was Edward Teach. Well, couple things.

1st, I did want it to be a little cryptic. While many may recognize the name Edward Teach as Blackbeard, who was notorious for cruising the NC waters, William is a little different.

2nd. There is Captain Ed at the Captains Quarters, and, seeing as how we both have a nautical theme, I didn’t want to go with the Edward, either.

3rd, My true middle name is William. And no, it isn’t some sort of pirate fantasy or dream. Just sprang to mind, sounded good.

4th, Parlay can only occur between Pirates, as the Code states, though, it is really more a set of guidelines, rather then actual rules. AAArrrrrggggg.

Here other question was why the light blue colors, when I have some evil pirate stuff? 2 reasons. The light blue is easier on the eyes (at least it is to me), and it is more remeniscient of the light blue Caribbean waters.

Update: A friend of mine from Down East emailed me, and, as she has never seen Pirates of the Caribbean (wtf?), she said #4 was obnoxious. The most appropriate definition is: A discussion or conference, especially one between enemies over terms of truce or other matters. #4 was meant only to be silly. But, I begeth thee, rent the movie.

PS: You know, I wrote this, and it barely makes any sense to me all these years later :)

My real middle name is William. I went to East Carolina University, home of the Pirates. Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, cruised the waters of North Carolina. I had been using the name Pirate’s Cove for static websites for several years, so, one thing led to another, and ended up with William Teach. The other option was to do something based on my favorite team, the NJ Devils, which could have been interesting.

Oh, and have you ever taken the Blogosphere Political Compass Project test at the Zoo (http://the-zoo.blogspot.com/2004/06/blogosphere-political-compass-project_30.html)? I didn’t see your name on the list and it’s fun.

  3. Ogre’s can be anything they want. Parlay can occur. With liberals though, they walk the plank. ;) Got the graph to work, preciate the 411!
