No, really, they just love them to death!

In a survey of U.S. troops in combat in Iraq, less than half of Marines and a little more than half of Army soldiers said they would report a member of their unit for killing or wounding an innocent civilian.

More than 40 percent support the idea of torture in some cases, and 10 percent reported personally abusing Iraqi civilians, the Pentagon said Friday in what it called its first ethics study of troops at the war front. Units exposed to the most combat were chosen for the study, officials said.

• these troops are going to be brought home at some point and sent back to live among innocent civilians. mental health care for them is inadequate at best. what is going to happen when they kill our innocent civilians? or look at one of us as a candidate for torture when we displease them?

• This is one of the problems we face. We know that these youngsters follow orders no matter what. They’ve been taught at a tender age (many are still in their teens) to brutalize civilians. What happens if Bush decides to sic them on us?

• What scares the hell outta me is that by virtue of their military training and experience, these are the people who will probably get jobs in civilian law enforcement when they finally get to come home.
• My prediction is that within a year you’ll hear of soldiers who’ve been over there for 15 months coming home & going crazy — Let us hope not too many are hurt here.

• What do you expect from an organization that teaches objective morality as a survival technique? Civilized social behavior? Yet another reason why soldiers do not "defend" American society or the civil liberties held within.
• There are no innocent civilians in America. All citizens are equally culpable for the aggression against Iraq. Its called ‘collective karma’. Japanese citizens of WWII found out about it. (blame America first)
