Captain Ed has found a story about how the French forged a document stating that Iraq was trying to purchase Uranium from Niger.
The Italian businessman at the centre of a furious row between France and Italy over whose intelligence service was to blame for bogus documents suggesting Saddam Hussein was seeking to buy material for nuclear bombs has admitted that he was in the pay of France.
And so on. This is simply amazing, if true. What will Kerry say? Is France not one of the “allies” that we were, and are, supposed to be pandering to in order to have gotten, and get, them involved in Iraq? The same country who is intricately involved in the OFF scandal (FOX’s broadcast on the link between the OFF money to Saddam and Al-Queda tonight should be interesting) and selling banned materials to Iraq?
Of course, Kerry never mentions France by name, does he. Nor Germany. But who else is there? What other NATO allies are there that aren’t involved? A few small European countries. But none of them can provide troop strength to relieve the US burden. What will Kerry say?
Italian diplomats have claimed that, by disseminating bogus documents stating that Iraq was trying to buy low-grade “yellowcake” uranium from Niger, France was trying to “set up” Britain and America in the hope that when the mistake was revealed it would undermine the case for war, which it wanted to prevent.
And both France and Germany have said that they will not get involved no matter who is President come January. What now, John?
not now john
we’ve got to get on with the film show
hollywood waits at the end of the rainbow
who cares what it’s all about
(Pink Floyd, The Final Cut, “Not Now, John.”)
I try not to be a conspiracy theorist, but this one does sound too possible.
