I apologize if others have seen this email that is going around, but I think it is worth a post. If you like it, email it out. And, by all means, feel free to copy it, and link me :)
So..
if the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.
………………………………………………
And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.
………………………………………………
And since they already have prohibited any prayer in the schools, of which they deem their authority, then, so be it
………………………………………………
I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.
………………………………………………
I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions. I would like to think that those people have my best interest at heart.
………………………………………………
BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I’D LIKE ? I’d like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Easter & Sundays.
………………………………………………
I’d like the US Supreme Court to be in session on: Christmas, Good Friday & Easter as well as Sundays.
Why would these be holidays for them if they don’t believe in the reason we have them?
………………………………………………
I’d like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." What is Christmas without Christ?
………………………………………………
I’m thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services
would work on: Christmas, Good Friday, Easter & Sundays.
It shouldn’t cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct".
……………………………………………..
This would not affect any "non-governmental" business. Since everyone else still has the freedom of religion, we could all still enjoy our holidays.
………………………………………………
So, I guess if they continue to bow to the wishes of the few, & if this e-mail gets out to the right people, maybe they would bow to the wishes of the many.
………………………………………………
So be it………..
And Amen!
And God Bless America !!!
You (they) are right . . . in a way, of course.
BTW, I am not “pusillanimous warwanker”. I was only that for a week because I lost a bet (had to do with the election. don’t wanna talk about it).
I’m “pusillanimous wanker”, or “PW” for short.
Hey, I really like this email and I hadn’t seen it! When I update my blog today, I’m gonna add it and of course, link back to you!! Hello PW, by the way! (I’m too lazy to type out the entire name, so I do use PW!!)
PW, got you fixed in the blog roll.
Julie, thank you. Anymore pictures of the little kitten?
I had never seen this before either. It really makes a good point.
“I’d like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving &Easter”
Why Thanksgiving? That holiday isn’t rooted in religion.
“if the US government determines that it is against the law for the words “under God” to be on our money”
Actually it says “in God we trust”.
As for the meaning of the email, that the government should work through Sundays and religious holidays, I ask this:
Does this mean that active Catholics & Christians that work for the government shouldn’t get those days off either, or does this just apply to those government employees who don’t believe in your faith?
Why should this only apply to government jobs? If they should have to work those days, why should you get special treatment just for being in the private sector?
Do you really believe this, or would you just throw a bigger fit and scream from the pulpit the moment the government tries to separate the religion from the holiday?
If you’re so against the government why do you want them working any more days than they already are?
Final thoughts…
It sounds like your point is, “Since these are nationally recognized holidays, the government is actually supporting the Christian faith, and if that is so, then there actually is no separation of church and state.” To which I reply, now you know why the rest of us are so upset. Maybe now you can quit complaining about being oppressed.
