From the Truth Laid Bear comes an expose on Tom Brokaw’s advice for Brian Williams:
"Put your head down and do the work, and don’t read
the many media critics who will be out there with commentary and
criticism in the beginning. Your compact is not with them but with the
audience."
I personally think this is partially aimed at the Blogosphere. While there are, at times many disparate views put forth in the blogosphere, and sometimes even the left and right agrees, or a majority in the left or right agree, there is certainly criticism in one form or another towards the MSM’s, and Williams will be under a microscope, at least from some. Will not be moi: I rarely watch the MSM’s nightly news. Would rather read it.
How about this for Mr Williams?
There should be truth in thought, truth in speech,
and truth in action. To the man who has realized this truth in
perfection, nothing else remains to be known because all knowledge is
necessarily included in it. (Mohandas Gandhi)
And, as his mantra,
When I tell the truth, it is not for the sake of
convincing those who do not know it, but for the sake of defending
those that do. (William Blake)
And, Brian, always remember this (vis a vis Dan "the substance is real" Rather):
Truth is a good dog; but always beware of barking too close to the heels of an error, lest you get your brains kicked out. (Francis Bacon)
Good post. Where did you dig up the quotes?
A site called Brainyquote: http://www.brainyquote.com/
Great place to find stuff like that, especially now that they have incorporated google search.
I’ll bookmark it. Could come in pretty handy.
