From WRAL:
A study released by the University of Nebraska Medical Center shows an average of 42 percent of clinic appointments are no-shows. But forgetfulness isn’t the reason; instead, the study shows that fear keeps patients away.
"There’s a fear of what they might hear, and there’s a fear of what might happen," said researcher Naomi Lacy.
Lacy said men, single people and the economically disadvantaged are much more likely to no-show.
I’ll agree with that. Who wants to go to the doctor and end up singing "Moon River?" And the ladies? Don’t even want to go there.
