At the risk of pissing off any Philly fans, here goes.
How bad is it to be a fan of a Philly sports team?
- Phillies-first and only World Series Championship, 1980. In existence since 1883
- Eagles: Last Championship, 1960. 2 others in 48 and 49
- Flyers: last Stanley Cup, 1975. One other in 74. This was in 7 appearences
- 76ers: last in 83, 2 others in 55 and 67.
Fun, huh? Lets compare that to my teams
- NY Giants: 4 NFL Championships and 2 Super Bowls, last one in 1990
- NJ Devils: 3 Stanley Cups, 4 appearences, in the span of 9 years. In NJ since 82-83 season
- Dodgers: 6 World Series wins, last in 1988
- Basketball, don’t have a team, don’t care
Heck of a list, eh? Realistically, I just threw the Phillies and 76ers in just to be snarky, couldn’t care less. Now, being a Devils and Giants fan, I care about football and hockey. Not fun to be a Philly sports team fan, huh?
Oh, and let’s not forget the last 2 Presidential elections, which they lost, too.
