Well, not the real FBI. The F*ck Brain Idiots, who are send out a virus laden email that looks like it has come from the real FBI.
The e-mails appear to come from an fbi.gov
address. They tell recipients that they have accessed illegal Web sites
and that their Internet use has been monitored by the FBI’s "Internet
Fraud Complaint Center," the FBI said. The messages then direct recipients to open an attachment and answer questions. The computer virus is in the attachment.
If the FBI really was monitoring you, you would recieve a know on door. Need I say, do not open the attachment?
Virus allegedly sent by FBI
An email warns recipients that the government is monitoring their Internet connection, and they have “accessed illegal websites”.
haven’t seen any of these. my mom has email and is on the internet. she’s a nightmare – she clicks on every flashing ad, has “weather bug” and a hundred other cutsey gee-gaws on her computer. So she’s sure to get it… sigh. There is no spyware/antivirus that can keep up with her.
I recieved the email, though either Road Runner or MacAfee stripped it out. Tell your Mom to get Macafee. I have been REALLY happy with it, unlike Norton. And Adaware SE. Plus, using Firefox will stop lots of spyware, as well. Of course, clicking on the adds defeats alot the purpose, but, at least she could remove them. A class in editing the registration would probably be good :)
I meant the registry, not the registration. Brain no work to well today.
