This week is open season, mostly "what I hate about the ACLU." I’ll sum it up simply. I hate the ACLU because they are liars. From the About page at the ACLU:

The ACLU is our nation’s guardian of liberty. We work daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. Our job is to conserve America’s original civic values – the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Yet that is not what they do. They pick and choose which liberties they want to protect. They seem more then willing to protect Islam, yet have been after Christianity for decades. They attack the Rights of gun owners, despite that Amendment being #2. They support the rights of pedophiles, specifically NAMBLA. They have a partisan agenda against the GOP. They choose to represent one sides Rights over anothers Rights. Case in point.

ROME, NY — The New York Civil Liberties Union and the Women’s Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union today hailed the settlement of a lawsuit brought by a local woman who was denied admission to an Elks Lodge here solely because of her gender. Bonnie Orendorff has agreed to drop her lawsuit on the condition that the Benevolent and Protective Order Elks Lodge No.96 admit women members on the exact basis that they admit men.

Now, before anyone gets all upset, I support women’s rights. I could list all the why’s, but, choose to believe me or not. But this is not really about women’s Rights. It is about the ACLU forcing it’s agenda down people’s throats. When men wanted to be allowed to go to a women’s only school, the ACLU refused to be involved. The ACLU puts one groups Rights above anothers. There are groups who are exclusive, and, by choice, should be allowed to remain that way. Men’s and women’s only schools, religious groups, race groups, money and brain power groups, even gyms. I cannot speak for women, but why a man would want to be part of a club without women is beyond me. I like ’em! Women, that is.

Now, as a white male, if I sued a women’s only gym to allow me in, you can bet the ranch that the ACLU would not back me up. While supporting women’s Rights is honorable and noble, this shows that the ACLU picks and choose’s it’s causes, and files a lawsuit even if it tramples other peoples Rights. Would the ACLU support a white male suing to be allowed into a Black only group? Doubful. They pick and choose what they support. They certainly care more for the Koran then the American Flag:

Noting that free expression and the right to dissent are among the core principles for which the American flag stands, the American Civil Liberties Union today strongly urged Congress to reject the reintroduced Flag Desecration Amendment. The House Judiciary Committee is considering that measure today.

"If we take away the right to dissent – no matter how unpopular – what unpopular freedom will be sacrificed next?" said Terri Ann Schroeder, an ACLU Senior Lobbyist. "The First Amendment must most be protected when it comes to unpopular speech. Failure to do so fails the very notion of freedom of expression."

So, it is Free Expression if someone desecrates the number one symbol of the United States of America, but do you think the ACLU would support me if I actually did this? Again, that would not be part of their agenda.

Now, maybe some of you are saying "this is a rather different type of contraversial post then Teach usually does." Well, yes. I say here and now that I would support any group in a fight that supports the principles of the Constitution. But, I seriously doubt that the ACLU really care about women’s rights. That issue is just a convenient excuse to file lawsuits, like so much of what they do.
