From the Financial Times:
A series of car bombs targeting Shia neighborhoods in Baghdad killed 40 people late Wednesday and early Thursday, while a Sunni politician was assassinated in an apparent attempt to discourage leaders of Iraq’s former ruling minority from participating in the political process.
One of the bombs detonated outside a Shia mosque, but the other two car bombs went off outside rows of shops, away from any other apparent target. Residents said that they had spotted another bomber and arrested him before he could set off a fourth explosion.
Why should we care if they don’t?
“Why should we care if they don’t?”
Because we’re better than that. We can care, even if they don’t. Not preaching moral superiority here, but to do the right thing, regardless of the situation or consequences, is one thing that separates us from others.
