One of my favorite writers, Cassandra from Villainous Company, has a wonderful post about Liberals rewriting history. I love this part regarding Jay Rockafeller, which is from his own website:
There has been some debate over how "imminent" a threat Iraq poses. I do believe that Iraq poses an imminent threat, but I also believe that after September 11, that question is increasingly outdated.
Notice the date of the document from Jay’s site: 10/10/2002. As Cass mentions, this is how meme’s get started. The Left would like to blame this on GWB, but what GWB said in the 2003 SOTU was:
Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If this threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words, and all recriminations would come too late. Trusting in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein is not a strategy, and it is not an option. (Applause.)
EVERYONE said that Saddam had WMD. I won’t repeat what they have said, it has been done to death. We all have seen it, yet the Left ignores it. If it was said before 2001, it doesn’t matter to them, because then you are just "bringing up the Clinton card." If it was said from 2001 on, then it is Bush "misleading and lying." I just have to wonder: if all these world leaders and US Congress Critters are so easily misled, then should they be in their positions?
I can tell you one thing. Saddam isn’t in a position to become an imminent threat. No longer will he be able to support numerous ME terrorist organizations, such as Hammas and Hezbollah. No longer will he be able to use WMD, such as he did against his own people and against Iran. No longer will he be able to invade other countries. No longer will he be able to pursue WMD programs, which he was doing, as confirmed by even the UN. Nor will he be able torture, maim, and kill his citizens.
