Now this is serious news. Forget everything else:
In federal court in Raleigh, a legal battle is afoot over the proper name for the insulated foam holder that has cradled a million cans.
Robert and Julie Liddle of Raleigh run Kustom Koozies, a home-based Internet company that sells the beverage sleeves personalized to commemorate family reunions, bachelor parties, even weddings.
But an Indiana company, Norwood Promotional Products, says the Liddles have no right to use the word "koozie." Norwood says it has trademarked the word and demands that the Liddles call their products, company and Web site something else. They suggest "beer hugger," "huggie," "can cooler" or "coolie."
Just for reference, on my ship, they are call "huggers." Same at East Carolina U.
