Hey, Hey, buying a ship!

Finally buying my first home. Always loved apartment life, but it is time to go the home route. Nice little duplex at a golf community (homeowners dues pay for it), 1100 square feet. And it backs up to a pond and a river, so nothing can be built to screw up my view out the back! Check it out. The living room is green, and looks even worse in person. Yup, that’s getting painted toot sweet!! (Click for larger images)

  1. Congrats! That is exciting news.

  2. Ogre says:

Congrats! Hope you’re far enough away from said water that you won’t have monthly flooding — but then again, that would fit the ship theme a little better, wouldn’t it?

  3. the Pirate says:

Ya lucky bastard, only place I can afford anything in my area is South Central LA. Or Watts. Possibly Compton.

  4. Thanks, y’all. I’m pretty high above the river, plus, it is usually upstream and way downstream that floods.

Yeah, Pirate, you do not want those areas, from what I read. Raleigh has some pretty decent home prices. I am picking this up for $95K.

Salt in the wounds! Salt in my wounds!

You know even in the areas I mentioned you’ll still pay more than that.

Wow! Totally cool! Uh, not the green color but it looks terrific and you’ve got a nice deck that over looks the water. Poifect!
Hey…1100 sq feet, my little house was originally 1000, then added a 15X20 room on the back. And you got you place for a song compared to here. Pirate is in L.A. area where it is actually less than here. A 1000 s.f. house at the end of the court just went for 1/2 mill. Yeah. I couldn’t believe it. Has rock in the front yard and a carport. Euuww.
Dang, I need to move to S.C.

except you probably have mosquitos the size of Blackhawks…so maybe not…

  8. I’ll be interested to see what the ‘squito’s are like in the evening. Haven’t seen any there during the day, but, never know.

The green is actually growing on me, doesn’t look to bad.

That’s a nice looking place, Teach. My first home away from here was a 1100 or so square foot apartment in Tulsa. It’s was pretty nice, and the rent was reasonable (about $380 a month). Crime free area, all in all.

Now my ultimate life goal (home wise) is to buy a 1 or 2 masted windjammer (80′ to 120′ footer). That’d suit me fine. I know it’s a bit much for a bachelor, but hey….some day, I might find a chick who can tolerate my sorry butt. :)

But as you say, them yellow walls..ehhh..hmmm…heh

We all live in a yellow townhouse, a yellow townhouse… ;)

  10. How exciting! Congratulations. I hope you have many happy years here. It looks like a fun place to live. golf & fishing

  11. JulieB says:

OK, I’ll grant you the green/yellow walls, but no pink couch, OK? Just no.
    Really. no.

  12. JulieB says:

Still looks like a pretty place, whatever color you paint it or don’t!!

  13. No, no pink couches. Those are the previous owners. Mine are green and white striped.
