Was there any more exciting finish in pro football yesterday then the Giants/Denver game? Sure, being a Giants fan, I may be a bit biased, but, a come back from 13 points down win it by 1 in the fourth quarter with 8 seconds left win is pretty impressive. With a 2nd year QB at the helm against a damn good Denver defense. Especially with the well dressed Amani Toomer catching the winning TD. He was the one who caught the pass to beat the Broncos in 1998 when they were 13-0. Broncos did not like that.
Also, the Giants ended Denvers no turnover streak on the last play of the game, with a forced fumble and Gmen recovery on the post TD kickoff. Sorry!
Sure, there were some other great finishes. Drew Bledsoe’s 4th quarter pickoff to set up a game winning Seattle field goal as time expired. Paul Edinger’s game winning 56 yard field goal to give the Vikes the win over Green Bay. All the wackiness that killed the Chargers, including a blocked field goal returned for a touch down by the Egirls.
But the Giants win was the best. And Giants fans gotta love what Michael Smith of ESPN wrote:
For some reason, I don’t imagine Eli Manning, when the Giants finally make it with him at the helm, taking as long as Peyton did to win a playoff game. The kid is clutch.
Other thoughts:
-
Are the Skin’s for real? They haven’t really beat anyone good yet. The 52-17 drubbing of San Fran still isn’t saying much.
-
Houston will be lucky to win one game, much less two.
-
Arizona may have won, but they are still really bad.
-
New Orleans is toast. No Duece, no real home stadium.
-
The White Sox beat the Orioles 10-6. What? Bears/Ravens? Yo, offense,
propor favor. -
Good offensive explosion from da Raiders.
::sigh:: Poor Saints. ::sigh::
I’ve always been such a huge fan and I was just hoping that somehow this year they wouldn’t totally suck. I’d even bee happy if they still mostly sucked but went back to having a really rocking defense. Jeez, even that was a looong time ago.
Unfortunately, toast. They weren’t really that good to start with, beyond Deuce McCallister. I have never been sold on Arron Brooks.
