Simply amazing. No steps forward, no steps back. But, it is all about Bush, though. All the news services have WAB Syndrome. What About Bush. Their gleefull intonations that Bush caused The loss of the NJ and Va governorships is amusing. I cannot recall them giving the same type of airplay when Clinton lost the Congress.
Even the BBC goes wonky (not that that is unexpected, being the America bashers they are)
President George W Bush’s Republican party has fared badly in off-year elections, losing races across the US.
Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger was defeated on a raft of proposals that would have made sweeping changes in California.
Democrats held onto the governorships of New Jersey and Virginia, where President Bush personally entered the fray to support a Republican candidate.
Only in New York City did a Republican do well, with Mayor Michael Bloomberg winning re-election by a large margin.
So, Dems keep two Governorships they already had, Arnold lost in uber-liberal California, and Bloomberg is staying on as mayor of the Greatest City on Earth. Sounds like a push, to me.
Let’s see: Republican Jerry Sanders won the mayorship of San Diego, and in Texas a Constitution measure banning gay marriage was passed (that’s where it should be done, at the State level, not Federal). The GOP still has both Senators and 8 of 13 House critters in Va. Not much changed, eh? But the AP tries to spin it that way:
Democrats cleaned up big in off-year elections from New Jersey to California, sinking the candidate who embraced President Bush in the final days of the Virginia governor’s campaign. They also turned back all four of GOP Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s efforts to reshape state government.
Nope. Broke even. But, if the unhinged Left wants to feel that this is a big win, let’s let them, OK? Lord knows, they have lost virtually everything else since the beginning of 2001. As the BBC states:
While it is still unlikely the Democrats will manage to win back control of Congress in those elections, Tuesday’s wins have given them considerable cheer, the BBC’s Justin Webb in Washington says.
I do not think said cheer will bring the Left down from the belfrey.
Very well said — I had not really looked at it that way!
Thanks, Ogre. I watched the loons cheer and virtually high five themselves on the forums last night, and I said “nothing changed.” I cannot wait till their feelings of omnipotence turns to impotence.
