Hey, y’all, Jebediah here, on a beautiful Carolina morning. Cause nothing could be finer then to be in Carolina in the morning. Unless you are Kenneth Lee Boyd:
North Carolina is set to administer the 1,000th execution in the United States since the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty almost 20 years ago.
On Tuesday evening, Virginia Gov. Mark R. Warner granted clemency to a killer who was scheduled to be executed today. That means North Carolina’s execution of Kenneth Lee Boyd, if it proceeds, will be the milestone. Boyd is set to die by lethal injection at 2 a.m. Friday at Raleigh’s Central Prison.
Boyd, 57, was convicted in the 1988 shootings of his estranged wife, Julie Boyd, and her father, Thomas Dillard Curry, in their Rockingham County home. Prosecutors say Boyd shot his wife nine times in front of two of his children, pausing to reload.
If you can’t do the time, do not do the crime. I reckon I am almost tempted to go down to Central and see what the murderer apologists will do. Certainly, the national media will be focused on Raleigh, and I doubt that Gov. Easley will grant Clemency to Boyd. Despite being very Liberal (though normal liberal, not moonbat liberal), Easley has rarely granted clemency, being a former prosecuter in death penalty cases himself.
There are others out there who wish they were enjoying a Carolina morning, namely the 4 peace activists terrorist sympathizers kidnapped in Iraq. Of course, it is the fault of the USA and Britain
Christian Peacemaker Teams, a group that has had activists in Iraq since October 2002, said it was saddened by the video of their workers. The workers, the group said, were working against the occupation of Iraq.
"We are angry because what has happened to our teammates is the result of the actions of the U.S. and U.K. government due to the illegal attack on Iraq and the continuing occupation and oppression of its people," the group said.
My bullshat detector is going off at maximum. How’s that old saying go, if you play with fire, you’ll get burned? Yup. I reckon that’s about right. Or, if you lay down with pigs, you’ll be covered in mud and smell really bad. And that is what has happened. They played with terrorists, and got taken.
And, as Mad Dog Vinnie points out at The Jawa Report, Christian Peacemaker Teams have been in Iraq all the way back in 2002, pre war. These are people who are apologists for terrorists and brutal dictators.
Now, like Dr. Rusty (who has lots more on this issue), I hope they survive and are released unharmed. However, we will see if Dr. Darwin is at work. And, whether this was real, or a Guiliana Sgrena BS kidnapping.
