The Captain’s number will be retired tonight
They’ll raise Scott Stevens’ No. 4 to the rafters of the Continental Airlines Arena tonight and thousands of fans will cheer the captain who led the New Jersey Devils to three Stanley Cups in eight years. For a young boy from Kitchener, Ontario, who “just loved to play the game,” it’s a dream come true and a well deserved honor.
What else is there to say? Stevens was THE Captain of the Devils, the guiding force. The guy will be a first round Hall of Famer. And, to a Devils fan, a guy like Stevens stands out even more because of the way Devils fans know the players. Most are not just replacement parts. Devils fans will know what I mean.
Below is part of Stevens Top 10 hits, numbers 10-5. 4-1 will be posted later. Videos cannot be more then 2 minutes with VideoEgg. Thanks to Planetvids for putting it together and making it available.
