Good to see that W is a stand up guy, unlike others:
WASHINGTON (CNN) — President Bush sharply defended Donald Rumsfeld on Tuesday, saying the embattled Pentagon chief is doing a “fine job” despite calls for his resignation from six retired military generals.
Maybe some of the GOP Congress Critters should try taking a stand, energizing the base.
By the way, did you know that there were 4700 retired generals? John Hawkins did.
And, for those who have issues with Don, how about a blast from the Confusion Road past
You think you’re so smart, criticizing the way President Bush and I have conducted the war in Iraq. “You should have had a more detailed security plan,” you say in your whiny voice. Or, “you should have sent more troops” or “you shouldn’t have disbanded the Iraqi army.” Blah, blah, blah. I guess if we had put you in charge, everything would have been just fine, huh? Since you’re such a military genius, let’s see you try winning a war in Iraq.
Now that you’re in charge of the war effort, you can start with a routine task. Call up General Batiste. He’s in command of the First Infantry Division, and he needs to know how much ammunition we’re going to provide him for the month of May. Just come up with an estimate based on the current situation in Iraq and give him a ballpark figure.
What’s that? You don’t know how much ammunition he needs? You don’t have the expertise to make that kind of decision? Oh, well, I guess you’re not such a military wizard after all, are you, Smart Guy?
You look a little distressed, Mr. Secretary. What’s the matter, does this upset you? Awww, I’m sorry. Tell you what: I’ll take my job back. You just go home to your safe little suburb and your cushy little desk job and leave the difficult jobs to the people who can handle them.
And when you get home, don’t forget to tell all your snotty little friends that running the military and fighting a war in Iraq is not as fun and easy as they seem to believe. And until they’re ready to do it themselves, tell them to keep their arrogant little mouths shut.
Sister Toldjah quotes one of the Generals:
“We went to war with a flawed plan that didn’t account for the hard work to build the peace after we took down the regime. We also served under a secretary of defense who didn’t understand leadership, who was abusive, who was arrogant, who didn’t build a strong team†— Retired Army Maj. Gen. John Batiste
Someone care to tell me what our plan to build the peace was for every other war we have been in, from The War For Independence through Vietnam? There wasn’t one? Our only plan was to win? Well spank my bottom and call me Shirley, that’s just f’ing wild.
Of course, the Defeatocrats prefer to go in with the French plan to win the peace.
