Senator Kerry is not very good at children's games. He tried playing the old "If I was a ___" and failed miserably (from the Detroit News)
U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D- Mass., who was in town Sunday to help Gov. Jennifer Granholm campaign for her re-election bid, took time to take a jab at the Bush administration for its lack of leadership in the Israeli-Lebanon conflict.
"If I was president, this wouldn't have happened," said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John's bar and grill in Detroit's Cass Corridor.
So I'm reading and reading, an I failed to see the Kerry's answer to just how he would solve it. Because "how" is a powerful word. Three simple words, followed by a question mark, speak volumes. I do not know about you, but if I tell my boss "My store is going to pick up its numbers," he will respond "how?" So generally I provide details.
But, none of the media present in Detroit asked that. They let him off the hook like an endangered sea turtle.
So, I called Senator Kerry, who also served in Vietnam, and asked him
WT: Senator Kerry, you claimed that if you were president, the mess between Lebanon and Israel wouldn't have happened. What would you have done differently?"
JK: Well, I'm glad you asked, because President Bush just hasn't kept his eye on the ball. He has gone around the world pushing this "democracy" thing, our troops have terrorized women and children in Iraq, and the world hates us.
WT: Umm, Senator Kerry, what would you have done to stop he Israeli-Lebanese problem.
JK: Well, I sure wouldn't have allowed Israel to attack the Lebanese government.
WT: Sir, they aren't attacking the Lebanese government, they are attacking Hezbollah, a group that our State department has called a terrorist organization for well over a decade.
JK: But they are part of the government, right? So Bush should be talking to them, rather then isolating the United States from the rest of the world.
WT: Yes, sir, but what would you have done? Would you have talked to Hezbollah, which is backed by Syria and Iran? People who read this will really want to know, especially in light of you potentially running for president in 2008
JK: What people? Democrats will not care about a plan. And the rest of America is too stupid to understand my nuanced ideas.
WT: But you haven't even eluded to what you ideas are.
JK: Well, Israel just needs to stop inciting more terrorism.
WT: So it is Israel's fault?
JK: I didn't say that. I said that they are the major root cause of Mid East instability.
WT: Sounds like you are blaming Israel.
JK: They are the ones who attacked Lebanon.
WT: Umm, Senator, Israel has been under attack since the day it was created, and has had terrorists attacking them since around the late 60's early 70's.
JK: Aren't you one of those wingnuts who is banned in India? Maybe I shouldn't be talking to you. (walks away to get a latte')
Well, at least I tried.
Blogs For Bush has more.
If John Kerry were president, I believe he wouldn't have come out as strongly in support of Israel's right to defend herself as Bush did, and he could have done nothing to stop the current conflict. He couldn't have prevented those Israeli soldiers from being kidnapped. If he had urged Israel not to defend herself (which I suspect would have been his reaction) he'd have been a fool.
Shame that we actually have to put words into Kerry's mouth, since he won't tell us what his ideas are, and the press won't ask.
And check Hub Politics, too. And read the comment left by a typical unhinged moonbat.
Kerry’s World would be perfect….
I just wonder what world Kerry is living in. Does he have another universe where unicorns prance around and he is the center of it. How asinine is this statement; If I was president, this wouldn’t have happened, ??? Would…
