I wonder how long it will be till Braying Asses desecrate it?
BUENA VISTA, Va. – Mark Cline, a self-described entertainer known for his elaborate April Fool's jokes, got serious with his latest project.
Cline took two 40-foot storage containers, painted them white, and adorned them with yellow ribbon and American flags to represent the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
Thursday, with the help of volunteers, he stood the containers on end on top of a hill overlooking Buena Vista, a city of approximately 6,000 in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. The display will remain there three months.
"This is one of those situations where you have to be careful how you handle this type of observance," Cline told The Roanoke Times. "Because I'm in the entertainment business, I didn't want anybody to mistake this for a publicity stunt and I've been very, very concerned about that."
The city will use the display as a backdrop for a memorial service Monday, the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks that felled the twin towers.
Kudo's, Mr. Cline. Guard it carefully from the loons. Most of whom could care less about the 5th anniversary of 9/11, except for the movie.
And for assigning US Constitutional Rights to those who perpetrated 9/11.
But, 9/11 is really not a big deal for the Left-O-Sphere. A long perusal through the Left side of Al Gore's internet revealed a shocking, or not so shocking, really, lack of concern for this solemn day. The DUmmies, Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Atrios, Billmon, AMERICAblog, and about 30 other lefty sites were, for the most part, bereft of any acknowledgement of 9/11 and the 5th anniverasary. Those who did managed to post something generally used it as an attack venue, and a "oh, why are we such bad, evil people here in America?"
The Huff Puff finally has something up, but, of course, the comments are laden with the typical BDS, conspiracy theories, and America hatred.
The official GOP site offers a nice video and photo's. Compare that to Democratic site, which uses it to attack Bush over Bin Laden. Do they realize they are slurring the Coalition troops, including American ones, in Afghanistan? Do they care?
Howard "can't raise money" Dean had this to say:
"As we mark the fifth anniversary of the tragic attacks against our country, we honor the memories of the brave men and women who lost their lives that day and the families and friends of those who mourn them. Today is a day to reflect on the grief and loss we experienced as Americans but it's also a time to renew our commitment to fight and win the war on terror at home and around the globe. On September 11, the world unified around America and saw the strong spirit and resiliency of the American people. Today, we must renew our call to protect our airports, ports and transit systems and do everything possible to keep Americans safe from harm."
Ever thought of having your peeps in Congress submit legislation? Or maybe you just say something in tribute and then shut it till tommorrow.
