Another Democrat offers up his plan for surrender
On Election Day, the American people weighed in at the ballot box: They want to get our troops out of Iraq. Voters rejected the president’s failed Iraq policy, putting Democrats in charge of Congress and responsible for setting a new direction for Iraq, and, most importantly, for our national security.
Democrats agree that we should begin redeploying troops, but some do not want to set a target deadline for the majority of troops to be withdrawn. That is a mistake. Without a target date, redeployment could drag on indefinitely. The president consistently refused to set a target date for withdrawal, and Democrats shouldn’t follow in his footsteps. Democrats should move forward with a new Iraq policy that includes a target date for the redeployment of U.S. troops so that we can refocus on defeating global terrorist networks.
On Tuesday, I introduced legislation requiring U.S. forces to redeploy from Iraq by July 1, 2007. My legislation recognizes that a target date for the redeployment of U.S. troops from Iraq will help pressure the Iraqis to get their political house in order. Simply announcing when we will begin redeployment, without any end date, is unlikely to put adequate pressure on the Iraqis.
Interesting how that surrender monkey legislation slipped through the cracks of the liberal media.
OK, middle America, is this what you voted for? America cutting and running? Are you proud?
And, for those on the Right who wanted to "send a message" to their Republican Congress critter, you are getting exactly what you voted, or should I say, did not bother voting, for.
ye that is what a majority of Americans want.
I doubt if most Americans want to cut and run in Iraq.
Never surrender! Death before Surrender! Better Red than Dead! Bush, send in the chickenhawks before surrendering, puleese; and I won’t turn my rear view to you.
The numbers prove that Republicans didn’t go to the ballots in great numbers; after 10 days, I think I am finally over being depressed about all of this. Right now, I am watching the ensuring fun of Democrats making absolute fools out of themselves. Not that they haven’t for the last six years. Nancy Pelosi hasn’t even assumed her newly elected position and her caucus is fractured. This Alcee Hastings thing is going kill her future credibility. I don’t think he’s even going to make it through the door, but that may be wishful thinking. The Dems have been out of power for fourteen years and they continue to prove how unsuitable they are in leading this country. Who were they trying to kid? It’s like watching a group of high school students behaving badly. Amazing to watch! And these are mature adults. Wow!!!
