Morning, y'all, Jebediah here, and I have to say that I, gulp, actually agree with Ted Kennedy. From a Fox News interview with him by Chris Wallace
WALLACE: You said that welfare reform was a legislative child abuse. "Let them eat cake." But now, Senator, 10 years later, the employment rate among unmarried women — the employment rate — has soared, and the child poverty rate has dropped.
Hasn't welfare reform worked?
KENNEDY: No, no. Your figures are wrong in terms of child poverty. Your figures are absolutely wrong.
WALLACE: Well, we got them from the liberal Brookings Institute, sir.
KENNEDY: You're wrong. We've had an increase in the last five years of the number of children that are living in poverty in the United States of America. It's increased by 1,700,000.
We have 36 million Americans that are going to bed hungry every night — 36 million Americans who are going — and 12 million of those are children. So…
He's right. Look, how many Vegans are there in the USA? How many Vegans force their spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend, children, to live the vegan lifestyle? You ever wonder why rabbits, gerbils, and other herbivore's eat all the time? Because they are always hungry from their vegan lifesyle.
Add in all the people that are starving themselves to lose weight, and you are approaching a damn lot of people.
That is not to say that there aren't real starving Americans out there. There are. But, as Sand in The Hourglass points out, the last person we need pointing this out is a porker like Ted Kennedy.
Cut off the head and you have a dead Hippo.
Yea, Kennedy talking about hunger is like Clinton talking about fidelity.
But his heart is in the right place, or so the libs will say ;)
Funny, and for dang sure Teddy isn’t going to bed hungry!! Maybe the fact that he left Mary Jo in the car to drown makes him eat too much– or not! Wonder the boat doesn’t sink when he gets on! Boom-baba, boom-baba!
