Several good stories out there on Al Gore's internet, which is so cool! Sorry, that was lame.
While writing about the global warming as caused by Man hysteria, we, including myself, usually write about specifics. Well, over at the Paradise Post, Dick Little has written about the forest, rather then the trees
Massachusetts Institute of Technology physicist, Dr. Richard Lindzen told Larry King the idea that a majority of scientists support the theory is not true. He was the lone dissenter among a panel of four that included our own U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (what expertise does she have?), along with a Weather Channel meteorologist, and an English Economist, all of whom agreed global warming was a threat. (To me, an award-winning physicist who has studied the issue for years trumps politicians, TV personalities, and economists.) There is a movement to squelch research on our university campuses by scientists deemed to be uncooperative with pro-global warming "mythology" (my word, not theirs). They are pressuring universities to block research grant money from the oil and gas industry (along with other industries as well) from reaching scientists who disagree with the present global warming hysteria. When social science challenges real science, the big loser is the truth.
Read the whole thing. Well worth the time.
Over at Fox News (liberals just got the vapors), David Asman writes about following the money
There are a number of very bright climatologists and meteorologists out there who believe that this century’s warming trend is neither critical nor man made. Now you can agree or disagree with these folks. But you can’t pretend that these folks are crazies or ill informed or just in it for the money. They believe that the models used by the “We’re all going to die!” global warming worriers are far too severe and fail to take enough natural factors into consideration in their climate models. For their audacity to take on the status quo, they have been censured, excoriated and labeled as lackeys for the oil companies.
So who are these folks? Well, it turns out that on the whole they are just a bunch of number-crunching scientists who have been doing their work for years for the love of what they do, rather than the thrill of celebrity status. They include (but are by no means limited to) folks like Oregon State University climatologist George Taylor, Alabama State climatologist John Christy, Colorado State climatologist William Gray and Alabama meteorologist James Spann.
Mr. Spann was particularly upset with the charge that only those with ties to big oil could argue the way he and his colleagues do. In fact, he says, the truth is exactly the opposite: “Billions of dollars of grant money is flowing into the pockets of those on the man-made global warming bandwagon … Nothing wrong with making money at all. But when money becomes the motivation for a scientific conclusion, then we have a problem. For many, global warming is a big cash grab.”
Which leads to Mr. Spann's blog
Billions of dollars of grant money is flowing into the pockets of those on the man-made global warming bandwagon. No man-made global warming, the money dries up. This is big money, make no mistake about it. Always follow the money trail and it tells a story. Even the lady at “The Weather Channel” probably gets paid good money for a prime time show on climate change. No man-made global warming, no show, and no salary. Nothing wrong with making money at all, but when money becomes the motivation for a scientific conclusion, then we have a problem. For many, global warming is a big cash grab.
Ask Al Gore how much money he is making from global warming hysteria. Oh, and ask him how much CO2 he adds to the atmosphere as he jets around the world. Don't forget he said
"In the United States of America, unfortunately we still live in a bubble of unreality. And the Category 5 denial is an enormous obstacle to any discussion of solutions. Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis."
In other words, make it up as you go. Lie about it.
