Don't say that Murtha, and the Democrats, do not support the troops, though.

If Congress wants to cut off funding, it must do so honestly and directly, rather than dishonestly through micromanagement. In addition to paving the way for a geopolitical catastrophe for this country, the Democratic leadership may be setting the stage for a constitutional confrontation with the White House.
Democrats complain about the war ad naseum, but, when push comes to shove, they will only make symbolic gestures and underhanded attempts to stab our troops in the back. Remember when they pitched a hissy fit over being forced to vote whether they wanted the troops pulled immediately, and most voted to continue the war? They have tried, and keep trying, to get legislation through that requires the troops to be pulled in 4-6 months. Here, they are trying to become "puppet masters" by requiring an inordinate amount of strings attached to the war funding.
So far, the surge seems to be working, Democratic, and GOP, interference notwithstanding. And, a win in Iraq, ie, leaving the country at least as stable as, say, France, would be a win for President Bush, and some Republicans, something that the Democrats just cannot abide by. They are invested in our defeat.
I mentioned many times during the silly season leading up to the midterms that the Democrats would try some shenanigans, and, they are

Murtha is playing games, and the Democrats, and some Republicans, will play along.
Seems as if the Democrats are looking to apply their favorite subject, abortion on demand, to the surge. You know, considering it is already happening, as Blogs For Bush points out.
But don't say they do no support the troops.
