It must be another day, because the Democrats have come up with another plan to cut and run in Iraq, per Chuck Schumer's "resolution after resolution, bill after bill"
WASHINGTON – In a direct challenge to President Bush, House Democrats are advancing legislation requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the fall of next year.
Democratic officials who described the measure said the timetable would be accelerated — to the end of 2007 — if the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki does not meet goals for providing Iraq's security.
The conditions, described as tentative until presented to the Democratic rank and file Thursday, would be added to legislation providing nearly $100 billion the Bush administration has requested for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In other words, after the pink balloon is flown by the Nutroots, to see if it will rise or become pink lead.
There is a possibility that the troops will begin leaving next year anyhow, but, this gives the Democrats a way out of their surrender stance, and a way to take credit if that happens.
However, does anyone honestly think that the Democrats will be pleased with al-Maliki, and not call for cut and run by the end of 2007? Anyhow, they will surely submit more legislation to pull out this year.
Finally, don't say I didn't warn that Democrats would try to insert surrender legislation in appropriation legislation. Say it passes. President Bush would be left in a bad position. He can either sign it, and become part of cut and run, or veto it, cutting the funding for Iraq AND Afghanistan. Tough choice.
