Guaranteed to create massive protests from those folks who keep throwing the "choice" word out there
(CNSNews.com) – In a 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that a 2003 federal ban on partial-birth abortions is constitutional, a decision quickly hailed by one conservative organization as a "monumental victory."
Writing for the majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy said that opponents of the Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003 "have not demonstrated that the Act would be unconstitutional in a large fraction of relevant cases."
Along with Chief Justice John Roberts, other justices voting to uphold the ban were Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia.
Excellent news. I not sure why there would be a need for a partial birth abortion, other the a real medical emergency.
"Today's decision is alarming," Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote in dissent with justices Stephen Breyer, David Souter and John Paul Stevens. She said the ruling "refuses to take … seriously" previous Supreme Court decisions on abortion.
Ginsburg said the latest decision "tolerates, indeed applauds, federal intervention to ban nationwide a procedure found necessary and proper in certain cases by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists."
You mean like how the Democrats in the federal government try and ban guns, which are specifically mentioned in the Bill of Rights? Or how the federal government constantly interferes with the 10th Amendment?
Guess what, Ruth? Previous decisions can be overruled and changed. That happens. Get over it.
I will never understand the Left wanting to make partial birth abortion a measure of birth control.
