As I wrote about earlier today, Old Yellow Stain went out and gave us his new surrender plan
WASHINGTON (AP) — Defying a fresh veto threat, the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass legislation within days requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq beginning October 1, with a goal of completing the pullout six months later, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday.
Reid said the legislation "immediately transitions the U.S. military away from policing a civil war." He said that troops that remain in Iraq after next April 1 could only train Iraqi security units, protect U.S. forces and conduct "targeted counter-terror operations."
Under an agreement by Democratic leaders, the final bill could trigger the withdrawal of U.S. troops as early as July 1 if Bush cannot certify that the Iraqi government is making progress in disarming militias, reducing sectarian violence and forging political compromises.
A, what happened to working with Republicans and the President, and B, plain old surrender. I seriously hope all those Republicans who decided to stay away from the polls or voted for Democrats/3rd Party candidates to "send Republican officials a message" are happy with their choice. You have no one to blame but yourselves for putting the Democrats back in power in Congress, what with their attempts to demoralize our troops and our country with their Vietnam Redux, and embolden the enemies of freedom, democracy, and America.
Bryan over at Hot Air discusses some of this same surrender, as well as the Democrats unwillingness to meet with General Petreaus
What can be a higher priority than hearing from Gen. Petraeus? Can’t they make Petraeus’ briefings a priority, just for show? Apparently they would rather meet with Code Pink than Gen. Petraeus.
The Democrats wanted power but didn’t want any responsibility, but in winning power they have also earned responsibility. This war is being fought on their watch now, too. If they support the troops as they always say that they do, the least that they could do is treat the war as a priority worth studying and understanding, and worth hearing about from the man most responsible for its execution. They shouldn’t rely on media reports or groups like Iraq Body Count, but that’s apparently just what they’re doing.
Unfortunately, they want the U.S. to lose. There are many reason, such as thinking that America is the root of all that is wrong in the world, that we are the primary aggressor in all cases, and their abject, irrational hatred of President Bush. As has been said many times by many people, Democrats are invested in America's defeat.
And Harry Reid, the majority leader in the United States Senate, is leading the charge towards defeat.
Michelle M asks if Democrats will disavow loser Harry Reid.
Others with good posts: Jammie Wearing Fool, Bullwinkle Blog, and, and…..I'm rather surprised that there doesn't seem to be much reaction to Reid's current surrender plan. Maybe a delayed reaction?
Since it is still Demotivation Monday. Change is similar to transition.
“Unfortunately, they want the U.S. to lose.”
That kind of lunatic thinking prevents any sort of actual dialogue from occurring about this war.
As opposed to the leftist thinking, which is “America is the bad guy here, and we need to pull out immediately”?
Or opposed to the right’s way of “thinking” which has gotten us into a debacle with NO good way to end it.
