CNN: Let’s Discuss Ron Paul’s “Why Did They Hit Us?”

I really hope Ron Paul is happy with himself, as well as not expecting to actually get the Republican nomination for the general election. He has single handedly opened up the "what did we do to make them hate us?" argument. Witness this commentary by CNN contributor Roland Martin

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was declared the winner of Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate in South Carolina, largely for his smack down of Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who suggested that America’s foreign policy contributed to the destruction on September 11, 2001.

Paul, who is more of a libertarian than a Republican, was trying to offer some perspective on the pitfalls of an interventionist policy by the American government in the affairs of the Middle East and other countries.

"Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we’ve been over there. We’ve been bombing Iraq for 10 years," he said.

Well, gee, Roland and Paul, perhaps Saddam should have not invaded Kuwait, and complied with sanctions after getting his butt handed to him. Is it our fault that Saddam was a nut-job?

Paul tried to explain the process known as "blowback" — which is the result of someone else’s action coming back to afflict you — but the audience drowned him out as the other candidates tried to pounce on him.

After watching all the network pundits laud Giuliani, it struck me that they must be the most clueless folks in the world.

First, Giuliani must be an idiot to not have heard Paul’s rationale before. That issue has been raised countless times in the last six years by any number of experts.

Second, when we finish with our emotional response, it would behoove us to actually think about what Paul said and make the effort to understand his rationale.

First, Roland sounds like he is wanting to be one of those wackjob Truthers. He also sounds like a class 2 Moonbat. Hey, if throwing insults towards Giuliani is good enough for Martin, it is good enough for me.

Second, let’s discuss Paul’s rational. Ummmmmmmmm……. it’s bunk. There has been a war going on between Islam and those who are not Muslims for over a thousand years. The Koran says join, become a Dhimmi, or die. And, as we have seen, many Muslims take that to heart. At least the join or die part.

They have been pissed off at the world for creating the nation of Israel (again.) Said country knocked the snot out of the Arab attackers multiple times, at which point small groups turned it into a religious crusade. Funny how Arab/Muslim residents of Israel have more rights then Jews living in Arab countries.

And they are just generally pissed off. The most minor of things sets them off. And they do not mind killing each other. Witness the constant fighting between Sunni and Shia. Or how about, more specifically, Hamas and Fatah? They blow their own Mosques up. They kill their own religious leaders. Heck, they riot over cartoons. The list can go on and on.

Granted, Americans were severely damaged by the hijacking of U.S. planes, and it has resulted in a worldwide fight against terror. Was it proper for the United States to respond to the attack? Of course! But should we, as a matter of policy, and moral decency, learn to think and comprehend that our actions in one part of the world could very well come back to hurt us, or, as Paul would say, blow back in our face? Absolutely. His real problem wasn’t his analysis, but how it came out of his mouth.

In other words, let’s sit back and think about how we can keep people who are angry and have wanted to take down Western civilization, using technology that they can only replicate, not create, for over a thousand years. It is the typical leftists claptrap, "what did we do wrong?"

How about we think "what did they do wrong?" Maybe they should be trying to think and comprehend how their actions can cause blowback. But, hey, in the leftists world view, it is always "blame America first."

Definitely read the rest. It is a nice little encapsulation of leftist thought.

If we stop supporting Israel, do you think Muslims will stop? If we pulled out of the Middle East completely, do you think they will stop? We are the biggest target on the block, and they will not.

Folks like Martin and Paul should sit back and think not "why do they hate us?" but "why do they hate?" Understand their true intentions. Because everyone has an excuse for their attack. Which leads to another thought "why in the hell should we care?"

Do we blame ourselves for Pearl Harbor? I bet today’s liberals would.

Martin even goes as far as to insert the leftist foolishness from the Lancet study, the 100K Iraqi’s killed meme.

Think about it. Do we have the moral justification to explain the killings of more than 100,000 Iraqis as a result of this war? Can we defend the efforts to overthrow other governments whose actions we perceived would jeopardize American business interests?

Even Iraq Body Count says the maximum is 70,000. Even if true, how many were killed by each other? And isn’t it cute the way he says it was about business concerns?

Furthermore, I notice that Martin fails to write about the study by a Jordanian doctor that said 50K children a year were dying under sanctions in Iraq. Or the massacre of Kurds by Saddam. Did those 850K Rwandans slaughtered back in the 90’s cause their own genocide? I supposed Jews, Christians, and Gypsy’s should think "what did we do to make the Nazi’s kill us?"

I have been plenty pissed off at many people in my life, as I bet you have, too. And, like you, I have gotten in fights. But, unlike the extremist Muslims, I haven’t trained a child to go blow themselves up along with those who piss me off. Maybe Martin should think about that.

More: apparently, Ron Paul really is a Truther, per Michelle Malkin. I wonder if Mr. Martin would agree that we have to look into whether we actually knew/participated in 9/11?
