Or so the headline states:
Global warming: Tropical storms revealed as new factor in heat mix
But, is that just paranoia?
PARIS (AFP) – Hurricanes and typhoons play a significant role in distributing the ocean’s heat, say US researchers, who believe they have uncovered a major, but hitherto-ignored aspect of global warming.
Driven by mighty circular winds, cyclones in the western Atlantic, western Pacific and Indian Ocean have long been known to whip up the sea and leave its local surface areas cooler than before.
In a paper appearing on Thursday in Nature, the weekly British science journal, Matthew Huber and Ryan Sriver of Purdue University in Indiana make the first stab at calculating how and where this displaced heat, driven from the surface by the cyclone, ends up.
Well, no offense, but duh! Anyone who has spent any time watching the Weather Channel knows that.
If cyclones become more frequent as a result of higher sea temperatures, this in turn will step up the distribution of warm waters to higher latitudes, they warn.

Seriously, this is what passes for scientific research nowadays. If global warming is so bad, then why
- did we have a very tame hurricane season last year?
- were some of the worst hurricanes to hit the US (that are recorded, anyhow) back in the latter part of the 1800’s and early 1900’s?
- do the people who claim it is Man’s fault never change their lifestyles?
I won’t claim that global warming is not happening, though it may simply be more of micro-climatic changes, much as folks claim happened during the Global Climate Optimum. But, the climate of the Earth changes and fluctuates. It gets warmer and colder over time. And there are peaks and valley, and abnormalities during trends. The Battle Of Monmouth was fought during a horrendous heat wave, were more soldiers died from the heat then the battle. And that was during the Little Ice Age.
But, again, that doesn’t mean we cannot take measures like reducing pollution, and taking better care of the land, sea, and air. Cleaner burning fuel is a good start. So is stopping water pollution. Plants some trees and flowers. And so on. The global warming as caused by Man BS just gets in the way of true Conservation and environmentalism.
What happens if the hurricane season turns into a dud?

Yes, but not as rapidly as it has been and there is a fairly good understanding of what caused those changes in the past. That is not what is happening now.

Good point. What do you suggest?
