Morning, y’all, Jebediah Murphy here on another fine White Trash Wednesday. And these folks are out there frightening people
(CNSNews.com) – Asian-American advocacy groups voiced their opposition Tuesday to the immigration reform package under consideration by the U.S. Senate, calling it "unacceptable" and "anti-family."
"To us the most important debate on the pending Senate bill is not about undocumented immigrants, or a temporary worker program – it’s about family values," Michael Lin, executive director of the Organization of Chinese-Americans, said during a conference call briefing. "[It’s about] the fundamental value and respect of the family system."
"Every single facet of comprehensive immigration reform being debated by the Senate will have a disproportionate impact on our community," added Karen Narasaki, president of the Asian-American Justice Center.
Narasaki noted that while 10 percent of the Asian-American community is undocumented, "30 to 40 percent of the over 4.5 million immigrants caught in the family backlogs are waiting to join Asian-American families.
Ah, that is just an attempt to scare people, as Bush would say.
"The way to get control of our immigration house, to get things in order… is to return to nuclear family immigration – keeping numbers under control," Keeley added. "It just makes the most sense."
Actually, it kinda makes sense, I reckon. When you have only a few of the family allowed in legally, and the rest not, what are those others to do? Well, what they do is to either come legally, and overstay their visas or just not leave after their visit to the family, or just show up illegally.
And, many of these Asians are the kind of people the US wants: educated, willing to become Americans, hard working, and willing to learn English. The criminal element is low, and the family element is high.
Finally, this just goes to show that yet another segment of the American population is dead set against the current immigration bill.
But, again, Bush would just say that these folks are trying to scare people
“If you want to kill the bill,†Bush said, “if you don’t want to do what’s right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it. You can use it to frighten people.â€
Time to kill the amnesty bill, and start over. Start with protecting the borders, and work outwards from there.
