Seriously, does this surprise anyone?
WASHINGTON – A Democratic challenge to Gen. Peter Pace indicates that uniformed officers no longer are exempt from the partisan fire on Capitol Hill once reserved for civilian policymakers.
On Friday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates made the stunning announcement that he would not recommend Pace to serve a second two-year term as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Marine Corps four-star general had not been a target previously of Democrats’ ire on the war, but Gates said lawmakers made it clear the confirmation process would be ugly.
"It would be a backward looking and very contentious process," Gates said at a Pentagon news conference.
But, I thought the Left loved the troops? They don’t? Amazing.
It just goes to show that Democrats will do anything for power, anything to push their extremist agenda, anything to please their kook fringe "America is the root of all evil" agenda. How soon till they completely abandon any pretense of civility and admiration for the military? They have already attempted, and will continue to attempt, pulling them out of Iraq before the mission is completed. Then they’ll want to send them to Darfur, which has no national security interest at all.
The Good Lt. at The Jawa Report has more.
But it gets even better! The Politico reports
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, "incompetent" during an interview Tuesday with a group of liberal bloggers, a comment that was never reported.
Reid made similar disparaging remarks about Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said several sources familiar with the interview.
Can we question his support of the military yet?

Lil’ Bush, it’s funny!…
Lil’ Bush, the new cartoon comedy for adults on Comedy Central, is funny. Yes, it’s left-wing conspiracy-driven, … but it’s funny. Just like The Daily Show is funny. We watch both of them. Lil’ Bush is joined by his future…
Um. I hate the dems as much as the next person, but explain again how the chair of the joint chiefs of staff is “the troops”? That’d be like someone opposing the CEO of the company that I work for and being accused of not supporting “the workers”.
