Now this is a pretty interesting use for the iPhone (yeah, I know, associating like that)
Apple’s made it official: the iPhone will have full-blown YouTube integration. According to the iPhone Web site, the much-anticipated handset will include "a special YouTube player that you can launch right from the home screen." iPhone owners can now load and browse videos from the video-sharing site as well as e-mail them to their friends.
This comes less than a month after Steve Jobs announced that the company’s Apple TV set-top box would also have built-in integration for the wildly popular YouTube.
Despite not having AT&T’s 3G network, the iPhone will feature EDGE, which operates at 135kb per second. Of course, the iPhone also has WiFi. If the iPhone will be able to process Youtube vids fast enough, this will be monster. We all know how popular Youtube is, and, it will be interesting to see if it will play Evil Google ones as well, since the two are a joint venture, including the searches.
Right now, it is possible to upload vids to Youtube with your mobile phone, through MMS, however, they are limited in size, due to a mobile phones limited length for recording individual vids. It will be interesting to see how long the vids will be with the iPhone.
BTW, you can watch some Youtube vids from some mobile phones at this time. Go to m.youtube.com. Some phones are working, some aren’t. I have many different mobile phones and PDA’s, and quite a few work. The Microsoft PDA phones and Crackberry’s do not seem to like to play them, though.
