And it is not about global warming as caused by Man

HONOLULU – A third large crack has formed on Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, park officials said Wednesday. A forest area that is home to rare plants and species could be in danger.

The fissure, spotted in an area a few miles southeast of Kilauea’s summit, is near two others discovered since hundreds of small earthquakes were recorded in the area Sunday, suggesting magma, or underground lava, was shifting beneath the surface.

The area is home to honeycreeper birds, happy face spiders and damselflies. There are also native trees and ferns found nowhere else in the state.

"This is a real vital part of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It’s a vital habitat," Gale said.

The Earth truly is a dynamic system, eh?

SANTIAGO, Chile – A five-acre glacial lake in Chile’s southern Andes has disappeared — and scientists want to know why

Park rangers at Bernardo O’Higgins National Park said they found a 100-feet-deep crater in late May were the lake had been in March. Several large pieces of ice that used to float atop the water also were spotted.

"The lake had simply disappeared," Juan Jose Romero, head of Chile’s National Forest Service in the southernmost region of Magallanes, said Wednesday. "No one knows what happened."

Simply amazing what Mother Earth can do. To think, she can make an entire lake just disappear. She is even strong enough to do this: "The swimming pool at the University of Arizona in Tucson lost water from sloshing (seiche) caused by the September 19, 1985 magnitude 8.0 Michoacan, Mexico earthquake 2000 km (1240 miles) away." Yikes!

And there was a tiny earthquake in New Hampshire! The power of the Earth is simply incredible. The works of Man pale in comparison.

Did you know that around 5 million years ago there were no polar ice caps? It wasn’t until the Ithmus of Panama came into being that they developed, as the circulatory patterns of the oceans changed to what they are today. The change allowed caused more rain and snow, containing fresh water.

Around 6 million years ago, during the Messinian period, the Mediterranean Sea was blocked off, and dried up almost completely. In the future, the Sea will disappear completely, as the African plate collides with Europe. The Persian Gulf will disappear in the same way.

America becomes 1 inch farther from Europe across the Atlantic every year.

Los Angeles will be snow bound in the future.

Obviously you are not in concrdance with the rest of the Republican base which believes that the Earth is less than 10,000 years old.

There has never been an equilibrium in the Earth…

All of the environmentalists and so -called experts are always talking about the equilibrium that the Earth is in. Well, the Earth has never been in equilibrium, it is in constant change from wind, tectonic plates and other forces. At…

Not all conservatives are right wing nuts that believe in the 10,000 year old Earth cap. I am a conservative and totally believe in evolution. Get off the Christian bashing, not all are Bible thumpers

  5. Good point, Stix. Me, I am not sure which theory is right. I am open. I believe in God. Doesn’t mean I believe in Genesis, but, Genesis, Darwinism, and Intelligent Design all rely on faith.

  6. Silke says:

Since Genesis and Intelligent Design require a supernatural force they are not by definition scientific theories. The theory of evolution however does not rely on faith and it provides the best scientific explanation for the diversity of all life.
