I caught this bit of trash on Tuesday, but was not going to mention it due to the sanctity of the day
On the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, students at one high school were not allowed to wear clothes with an American flag.
Under a new school rule, students at Hobbton High School are not allowed to wear items with flags, from any country, including the United States.
Gayle Langston said her daughter, Jessica, was told to remove her Stars and Stripes t-shirt.
"Today she wanted to wear her shirt, and I had to tell her no,†said Langston. “She didn’t like it at all because I knew it would get her in trouble. Of all days, 9/11, she could not wear her American Flag shirt.â€
The superintendent of schools in Sampson County calls the situation unfortunate, but says educators didn’t want to be forced to pick and choose which flags should be permissible.
Political correctness gone so far astray as to reality being competely out of sight. Can we question the patriotism of the Far Left now? We have to fight not only against radical jihadi’s, but against our own insane, America hating people.
The poll on NBC 17 shows that 69% of the respondents think an exception should be made for the American Flag. The question is "Should schools be allowed to ban clothes that display flags?" 24% say "no."

Now, if it was a Che shirt, or had a Communist logo, I bet it would have been acceptable. As a resident of North Carolina, I am embarrassed.
Update: Was out on ye olde golfe course, and caught two emails from Jay at Stop The ACLU. First, he mentioned that the ACLU is telling the school to rescind its no flag apparel policy.
Then, that the school has rescinded its policy.
Of course, let us not forget that a government school apparently forgot which country it was in and banned the American Flag on September 11.
WT I expect that anti-American / anti – Christ stuff from one of 19 Blue States of America, but NOT North Carolina. Your neighbor to the north just went BLUE so again, the inner city Democraps are relocating to Virginia and NC and 1/2 of Florida, so it’s a matter of time till “WE are one nation under Allah, divisible, without liberty and justice by the sword for all infidels!” 9-11-01 – 19 blue states and counting HAVE FORGOTTEN, and during a time of war makes me wanna vomit !
If they want to ban the US flag, then let’s ban their federal funding.
I am so angry with this school district that I don’t know where to start. Hey you idiots, did you forget THIS is AMERICA? Did you notice on the 4th of July, not many people were flying the flag of Iraq, or Iran or any other nation. Do you think you can figure out why? I 100% support this young lady and her mom. As a crew member for American Airlines (you do remember we lost two of our planes and lots of our friends that day), and did you notice the American flag proudly displayed on our aricraft, I am sick to my stomach, angry and fed up with you spineless people. Please, find another country where you think you can pull off a stunt like that and I’ll pay for your moving expenses. Don’t be surprised if next year, on Sept. 11th, that you have many American and United crew members picketing your schools, in uniform and wearing the American flag. I think a bit of media build up to this would be a fine way for the whole nation to see exactly who you are. We have a year to plan for this, so be prepared. I pray this type of event never hits as close to home for you as it did for us. If so, don’t ever look in a mirror again…you are personally helping to bring it about again. (that’s on 9-11 for loonies that don’t know), I flew a huge Betsy Ross Flag, and at night lit four large candles inside four glass vases commemorating the Twin Towers, Pentagon and ~UF93~ beneath the flag. Of 50 houses in our new development, I only saw 6 American Flags waving! What a disgrace but when they take GOD out of our public school classrooms, and flags, and the Pledge of Allegiance… we know what the consequences are!
Actually, the Flag Code (4 U.S.C. 175) specifically prohibits the flag from being incorporated into any article of clothing. The only exceptions are for flag patches and lapel flag pins.
You are right, Ann, but, I think people who do it in a respectful way are doing no harm. I have several shirts with the Flag on it.
Fortunately, in this case, the school backed down.
In response to Ann’s comment, I was unaware of this so I did look it up. First, it can be found 176(D) rather than 175. Also, what it states is somewhat different than being incorporated into any article of clothing. What it does state is” The flag should never be used as wearing apparel.” Having a reproduction of the stars and strips on article of clothing, whether it be a shirt, jacket or tie (which, by the way, members of the House and Senate have been observed doing on many occasions), is not wearing THE flag as an apparrel, no more than wearing a shirt with the picture of an airplane makes you a jetliner.
I do appreciate your attempt, but I believe your information is incorrect.

North Carolina is a dying state. Too many yankee’s have moved in because they couldn’t afford to live in the northern “blue” states and they brought their stupidity with them. Soon they won’t be able to live in N.C. either due to the liberal laws and high taxes they now think N.C. should suffer with. Stupid is as stupid does, is a perfect description of a democrat.

Unfortunately, Scrap, you are correct. It used to be we would have these northern lib problems only in the big (well, big for us) cities. Now, they are spreading out. And NC is probably in the top 5-10 for government corruption.
I am a teacher. If I was at the school mentioned I would wear my flag in a proper and respectful way. I would not care what the adminstration says. I don’t care if you are from another country and it offends you. If it offends you that bad, MOVE!

Malissa, I can see the point you are driving at, but there is a huge difference between being allowed to wear something with the American Flag on it, particularly on Sept. 11, and gang related apparel. Some folks will say “you cannot ban some and not others.” Au contraire, you can, because there are differences. And, I do understand much of small town America. I live in Raleigh, and we are surrounded by small towns. I know people who live in them. I have been there. I grew up in one (granted, it was in NJ.)
