I did something I usually do not do this week, chiefly being going to the movies. Usually, I will only go when it is something huge, such as the Pirate’s of the Caribbean series, Lord of the Rings series, or Star Wars series. Its gotta be huge to get me to go. I have a hard time sitting that long while simply watching, and usually prefer cranking movies up at home. I am looking forward mightily to “Cloverfield,” and will definitely see that in the theater.
That said, I was off Monday and today, everyone else was working during the day, or sitting around watching Bowl games that I could care less about. If ECU isn’t playing, I don’t bother watching college football. No interest. So, I went to see a few movies.
Monday, I went to see “I Am Legend.” Fantastic movie, well worth the matinee price ($6.50). Go see it, you will not be disappointed. Nothing more needs to be said. 4 out of 5 stars
On another note, there is Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem. Quite frankly, unless you can get matinee pricing, and are a big fan, don’t waste your money. Unless you really have nothing better to do. It will probably do well on video, but don’t spend much to see it in the theater (slight spoilers ahead)
Several problems. The movie was too dark too long. When the Predator spaceship crashes in the beginning, except for 2 hunters, no one notices this huge fireball come out of the sky. Yeah, sure. When Aliens and a Predator are blasting through the paving in the middle of the town, no one notices. When the Predator creates an explosion in a power-plant, the dude working there doesn’t notice.
Remember at the end of AVP, when the weird alien comes out of the predators chest? That could turn our really cool. Or could if you ever really got to see it. The shots tended to be so dark and the movement was so quick never got a good look.
The ending? What the hell was that about? No clue what that was supposed to be, inserting a character which people are just supposed to know, I guess. And we do not even get to see the hot chick get all wet in the pool before she gets wasted. 😉
There was lots of action, lots of gore, and not a completely bad story line. Did I mention lots of people getting waxed by the aliens and predator? We get to see a couple people melt away from the aliens blood. 3 Stars.
I Am Legend was one of my favorite movies this year.
I’d have to agree, though, of course, the year just started 🙂
The only other one I saw in the theater over the last year was Pirates 3. Eh.
Cloverfield should be good, and I might go see the ne National Treasure next Thursday. Can’t play golf or do much physical activity till my ankle is fully healed.
I was slightly disappointed with Legend, and I’m a huge Will Smith fan. It was good, it was worth the money; but everyone says Quantum Man was far better. I need to locate it.
The first AvP sucked liked a vacuum cleaner, I expect the same from the 2nd. So much so I have no intention of seeing it.
I thought it was good, worth the price of admission. Perhaps wasn’t his best. I really liked I Robot. Better then the hokey Independence Day, though he was good in that movie.
Haven’t heard of Quantum Man. Hell Boy 2 is coming out, though. Previews looked interesting.
