More comedy relief from the direct democracy crowd (via Politico)
BATON ROUGE, LA — The Obama campaign submitted an urgent request for assistance to the Secretary of State’s Division of Elections today, after receiving widespread reports from Democrats across Louisiana who reported that they were not allowed to vote because their party affiliation had been switched. Hundreds of Louisiana democrats went to the polls to vote in today’s presidential primary and found that they were now on registration lists as Independent or Unaffiliated voters.
Is it just me, or does everyone else get a chuckle out of the constant claims of “voting irregularities” and “fraud” from the useful idiots on the left? It is like Saturday Night Live: the cast and crew keeps changing, the bit players come and go, there are special guest stars, and the humor just continues on year after year.
Sure, Republicans will claim some irregularities and fraud now and then, but, we sorta get the fact that this stuff will happen in politics, no matter what is tried to fix it. Democrats, though, claim fraud, irregularities, and dirty tricks when they are the ones doing it and because their followers are, in many cases, too stupid to either run an election or vote in it. One of my favorite stories was Florida 2000, where 27 of the 28 precincts that had voting problems were run by, you guessed it, Democrats. The 28th was independent. We saw the same pattern in Ohio 2004.
But, it is somehow Republicans fault for Democrat incompetence. Pure comedy!
However, in all fairness, a good chunk of the stories commenter’s at Politico are blaming Clinton, this time. They haven’t quite worked out how to blame Bush and Rove yet.

You will find this with Republicans who do not understand what a conservative really is and all about.
From Fox:
“Mike Huckabee is challenging the results of the Washington state Republican caucuses, his campaign announced Sunday, after accusing the state party chairman of calling the election for John McCain before all the votes were counted.”

Yes, it’s just you.
Both Democrats and Republicans have challenged close races – some of them have been legitimate claims and some of them haven’t.
Teach, as a Republican myself I just wanted to point out that we are just as guilty of this:

I mentioned that this does happen with Republicans, Silke, but, it does not happen even close to the number of times Democrats claim some sort of fraud or irregularities or something. Hell, some on the Left are still infatuated with the 2000 elections. They are infatuated with Diebold and all sorts of voting machines. They have websites dedicated to them, such as blackboxvoting. You can’t tell me that Republicans even come close to approaching the level of this that Democrats do.
And, yeah, I know about the Huckster. Rather serendipitous that it came out not long after I posted this story.

That’s an exaggeration based purely on anecdotal evidence. Isn’t possible you are just unaware of similar cases by Republican candidates – as you were of the Huckabee story?

I think the word you are looking for is inconvenient. The Huckabee story came out Sunday morning – before you posted this story.
No ma’am, it is not exaggeration based on anecdotal evidence. I spend more then enough time checking out the left wing at tons of sites, and have run across more then my share of this activity. There are tons of site, all on the left, which focus on election “irregularities.” Who was complaining the most over this after 2000 and 2004? Hell, they complained in 2006, when they won.
Never saw it Sunday morning. Saw it Sunday night.
I would suggest you spend time in the left-o-sphere. Start with the Brad Blog, move on to the DU, and so on. I do not want to sound like an ahole know it all, but, I have seen this stuff quite a bit.
You just proved my point, Teach. If you only focus on the Democratic sites you will miss it when Republicans do it – as in the case of Huckabee.
Actually, if you could find a site that lists all challenges by both parties, that could be fun.
I never said I focused on Dems only, Silke. What I said was that I see those sites quite a bit, and what they say. Of course, they do not care when claims of fraud would hurt them, despite them claiming “count every vote.” Go look up what happened in Washington State during the 2004 Governors voting.
Great idea, Stacy. I think I will start a page highlighting claims of fraud and stuff once we get in to general election season. Should be interesting the day of the election and for a few weeks after, when McCain wins, and those on the left claim fraud nonstop.
