Well, it is no longer a kerfuffle. It could be exactly what Hillary was waiting for, THE Big Mistake. As Captain Ed writes, this is why rookies shouldn’t run for president.
Oliver Willis was kind enough to post the entire video of Snob-ama and what he said.
Mr. Willis goes on to ask “It’s intriguing that Dems are never supposed to voice any criticism of rural America (which isn’t what Sen. Obama did) but Republicans are allowed to insult San Francisco, Massachusetts, the coasts, etc. It’s like there’s a double standard or something.”
But, there is a rather large difference between insulting areas and the American hating people who live in them, which is what we are doing. And, a larger point as Oliver attempts to make this comparison: we aren’t running for president! Barack Hussein Obama is!
I’d love to write a ton more, but, work calls. I’m one of those folks who cling to guns and religion and anti-ILLEGAL immigrant sentiment. Of course, I’m not bitter. And, it seems that lately it is those on the left who are anti-trade, eh? I reckon come January 20, 2009, BHO is the one who will be bitter, watching McCain be inaugurated, and, as any good Lefty is want to do, he will blame everyone else.
Check Memeorandum for tons more reaction.
More: Powerline is asking if the Messiah’s campaign is over. Hillary hopes so.
Karl at protein wisdom is using the belly slap torture technique on Obama.
The Chicago Tribune highlights the bitterness in Obama’s idiocy. These 2Â paragraphs stands out
“I didn’t say it as well as I should have,” he told a heavily student audience at Ball State University. “The truth is that these traditions that are passed on from generation to generation, those are important. That’s what sustains us.”
But Obama called the new controversy over his comments “a little typical, sort of, political flare up.”
In other words, he said what he really thought, and you bumpkins should listen to your betters.
Oh, and of course, that “true conservative,” Excitable Andy, who believes in real conservative principles, is trying to carry water for the Obamessiah
You can see the point he is trying to make – it’s the Thomas Frank argument – and you can argue about its merits, back and forth. I don’t think it’s meant pejoratively about the blue collar workers Obama is trying to engage. But the context of these remarks is political gold for McCain and Clinton. Especially Clinton. You will hear these words on Fox News for a very, very long time.
Yes, we could see the point that Snob-ama was trying to make, which is why he, his campaign, and the Nutroots, which Andy apparently has joined completely, are spinning like and F5 tornado.
I like how Andy uses that great “conservative” ideal of bashing Fox News, too.
Evening update: The NY Times tells us how Obama “slams” his critics. I assume they are working off this quote
“No, I’m in touch. I know exactly what’s going on. I know what’s going on in Pennsylvania, I know what’s going on in Indiana, I know what’s going on in Illinois,†Mr. Obama said, his voice rising. “People are fed up, they’re angry, they’re frustrated, they’re bitter and they want to see a change in Washington. That’s why I’m running for president of the United States of America.â€
Maybe in Liberal World, where they are always bitter and angry. Question for Snob-ama: what has he done in his vast years in Congress? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
