Nice to know that many in the “reality based community,” people charged with an oath that begins, for both the House and the Senate, with I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;…. are clueless as to what is going on down at the border
Three Democratic lawmakers who spoke Wednesday about alleged anti-immigrant coverage by conservative media outlets were not aware of a recent State Department travel alert warning Americans about military-like “combat” along the southern U.S. border in Mexico, where Americans are being kidnapped and murdered.
“The situation in northern Mexico remains very fluid; the location and timing of future armed engagements there cannot be predicted,” said the State Department alert. “Armed robberies and carjackings, apparently unconnected to the narcotics-related violence, have increased in Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez. Dozens of U.S. citizens were kidnapped and/or murdered in Tijuana in 2007.”
Senator Bob Menendez (Defeatocrat-NJ)Â and House members Luis Gutierrez (Defeatocrat-Ill.) and Hilda Solis (Defeatocrat-Calif.) where the three who were living in la la land.
But, of course, instead of blaming the people who are causing the violence…
Speakers at the briefing said that CNN and Fox News Channel should be held accountable for television personalities who have “played major roles in creating this anti-immigrant hysteria,” specifically Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck on CNN and Bill O’Reilly on Fox.
Maybe if the Congress, and the president, work harder to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the country, there wouldn’t be a problem. That’s just one solution, of course.
Of course, I have to mention the ACLU
State and local police who help enforce federal immigration laws are targeting Latinos and “terrorizing” people across the United States, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said at a briefing on Capitol Hill on Monday.
“Local law enforcement has been given the green light to engage in racial profiling,” Joanne Lin, a legislative counsel with the ACLU, said at the briefing held by the Appleseed Foundation, a non-profit network of 16 public interest justice centers in the United States and Mexico.
Those who the ACLU claim are being profiled are, last time I checked, not American citizens. Isn’t it great how the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union wants to protect their rights over those of legal American citizens?
