Global Warming Today Mishmash

Start with the absurd, Global warming book wins science prize

An investigation of how global warming could change the planet over the next century has won the world’s leading award for science writing.

Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet, by the journalist Mark Lynas, was named as this year’s winner of the £10,000 Royal Society Science Books Prize.

It was picked by a group of around 1,200 children, who have been scared to death by the dire predictions coming from climahysterics, otherwise known as “teachers.” If the models for weather, which is easier to predict, can change in less then 12 hours, how can anyone predict with certainty what the climate will be in 100 years? Particularly when the temps have been stagnent, despite increases in CO2, for 10 years?

I’m tempted to have a side blog, which just has photo’s of the 10 day outlook for Raleigh, as it is in the am and the pm. The ability to predict runs run in to the next story, Global Warming – Small Island Nations to Disappear Within Years

The stark realities of global warming and subsequent rising sea-levels are appearing to begin to have major effects on small Caribbean and Pacific Islands nations, with the latest stark call for assistance coming from the President of the Pacific Islands nation of Kiribati.

President Atone Tong recently said during a visit to New Zealand that Kiribati, as a nation, may no longer exist in 60 years and that Kiribati’s population of 90,000 may have move elsewhere much earlier than within the 60-year timeframe in order to survive.

Really? Global warming?

The main problem for Kiribati is that, in some areas, the water supply is increasingly becoming unreliable and that erosion on some of the inhabited islands is such that the affected islands may soon have to be vacated as being no longer viable for human habitat.

People should really read the articles they write, as well as provide proof for their theories.

Can global warming cause loss of islands, or at least part of their area? Sure. Welcome to nature. Perhaps all the gulfstream libs would prefer an ice age, which would cause the seas to decrease dramatically, leaving their Malibu homes miles back from the seashore.

Finally, over at ICECAP, Environmentalists Take Advantage of Natural Disaster – Blame Midwest Floods on Global Warming

In the latest in a series of predictable news stories gobbled up by an all too willing media, an environmental group Clean Wisconsin today claimed that the disastrous floods that ravaged southern Wisconsin this week are consistent with global warming predictions in the January 2007 Clean Wisconsin report. The report, “Global Warming Arrives in Wisconsin,” forecast that global warming would lead to increased instances of severe droughts, more intense floods and increased snowfall.

Alarmists have adopted the can’t lose position that all extremes of weather – cold, warm, wet or dry are all due to global warming. They blamed the frequent tornadoes of the late winter and spring on global warming even though the number was not at all atypical of a La Nina year. Southern Wisconsin and much of the Midwest has had a rough winter and spring but it has been the antithesis of global warming.

Wisconsin had its 33 coldest winter on record, nearby Iowa its 19th coldest in 114 years. The cool weather continued into the spring with the 22nd coldest spring on record in Wisconsin and 24th in Iowa.  Madison, Wisconsin had the snowiest winter on record, topping 100 inches for the first time ever.

Like most liberal positions, climahysterics set themselves up in a “no matter what we say or do, no matter how contradictory, it is always a winning outcome” position.

Teach when a state has the 33rd coldest winter in 114 years, doesn’t that actually mean that it was weigh above average in wamth ? And as I have posted before snowfall is an indication of percipitation not nesecarrily an indication of below average temperature. This is because warmer air can hold more moisture than cooler air. Also local town county state even country temps are not as important as looking at global temperature averages.
As I have posted before to refute your claims of “some scientist somewhere says the earth is cooling” NOAA ays the opposite that the earth is continuing to warm at an unprecedented rate of change.http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/monitoring.html
The cult of deniers is difficult to breakfree of, of all the Presidential candidates only RON PAUL denies global climate change

Ron Paul supports Teach in his fight to deny Global Cliamte change !!

  3. manbearpig says:

If I wrote a book about how plate tectonics COULD perhaps result in California sliding into the sea, or how the Yellowstone Caldera is due to erupt and will wipe out 3/4 of the earth’s population, would I get a science prize as well? Hey, it could happen. That’s science!

  4. Actually, the first is going to happen. The second, maybe, maybe not.

Will Ron Paul send me money, John?
