My prayers go out to his family and those who knew and loved him
Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary and conservative pundit who bedeviled the press corps and charmed millions as a FOX News television and radio host, has died after a long bout with cancer. He was 53.
As he announced Snow as his new press secretary in 2006, President Bush praised him as “a man of courage [and] a man of integrity.” Snow presided over some of the toughest fights of Bush’s presidency, defending the administration during the Iraq War and the CIA leak investigation.
Snow is survived by his wife, Jill, their son Robbie and their daughters Kendell and Christie.
Rest in peace, Tony, you will be missed.
Stop The ACLU has a very nice post up.
More at Michelle Malkin, Wizbang, and Outside The Beltway.
And, yes, it has started on the left. Too early to post some of the nastiness, but, here are two threads at the DU (here and here), which, in all fairness, do include some actual compassionate comments. But, as one in the first link writes: 3. Uh oh. It’s gonna get nasty around here, today.
What does it say about your left wing readerswhen you have to write: You know the drill, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. In fairness, so far, the commenters have been.
2 for the first 3 unhinged in comments at The Moderate (snicker) Voice.
For a surprise, a nice post at Kos by AndrewMC. I highlight the bad, have to highlight the good. Though, the comments are starting to degenerate.
Starting out nice at AMERICAblog.
Shocka! The comments are closed at the HuffPo.

From what I could tell on the links you provided the majority expressed compassion for Snow and his family. There will always be a disappointing minority, just as there were on Michelle Malkin’s site when she posted about Ted Kennedy’s brain tumor.
This is not a function of the left or the right. There are assholes on both sides.

well, many of them do. Many don’t. One diff is we smack our own when they do that, and it is a lot more rare on the conservative side.
But, yeah, there are lots of assholesin the world.
Posting with a 3g iphone 🙂
From the links you posted those on the left also complained about insensitive remarks. As for it being rare on the conservative side, it didn’t take me long to find some on Ted Kennedy.

Not all the lefty links were bad ones, Silke.
However, as I have pointed out before, for every bad righty comment you find, I’ll find at least 100 unhinged lefty ones. Probably more. Rarely can the Left complain when something like this happens to someone on the left, but, it happens quite a bit when something bad happens to someone on the right.
