In what seems to be a recurring theme for Denver as we approach the Democrat convention, they are still working to clean up the homeless. You know when the LA Times comes up with a headline reading Denver’s homeless get free haircuts to look good for Obama and his Democrats, things are not happy in the relationship between the DNC and the Credentialed Media
Last month The Ticket wrote that officials in Denver, worried about the impression that 50,000 visitors to the Democratic National Convention would get next week, were planning to hide the estimated 4,000 homeless people who hang around the city’s downtown area.
They arranged for free movie passes and bingo games to get them off the street, as well as temporary housing and free tickets to the zoo and Museum of Nature and Science.
Now, with a Hat Tip to our pal Jeralyn over at TalkLeft, comes word, as Sen. Barack Obama prepares to announce his vice presidential running mate pick, that Denver is even spiffing up the coiffures of its homeless. They’re giving free haircuts to the homeless this week in preparation for the visiting crowds who’ll arrive this weekend.
No, really.
According to Rick Sallinger of the CBS TV station, Denver Human Services has been handing out coupons for free homeless haircuts.
The Dems love the homeless, at least until they become inconvenient. Just like with most things.
I give it a M Malkin, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Isn’t the PC term residency challenged?
I am co-owner of Sly Salon in Denver, the ones who gave free haircuts to the homeless on Tuesday. There has been TONS of inaccurate news being spread about this and I am sending this to help clarify the misinformation.
The fact is that the City of Denver is not giving out movie tickets, bus passes, museum tickets or zoo passes to Denver’s homeless residents. The “Homeless not Hopeless Cut-A-Thon” was conceived and created by Sly’s Salon and was in no way sponsored by the City of Denver. Tickets were distributed by Sly’s Salon and not from the City of Denver or Denver Human Services. All costs involved with having the Cut-A-Thon on the 18th were incurred entirely by Sly’s Salon and the stylists that agreed to donated their time and services for the event.
Any help you can provide in clearing up this misinformation will be greatly appreciated
I’ll spread it around, Ghandia. If it has been reported incorectly, yes, needs to be acknowledged.
For the record, and I am in no means patronizing you, I think what y’all are doing is great. People need to do what they can for their fellow Americans who are having trouble.
And, just to be clear, I, and others, where not dissing y’all, but the DNC and Denver.
