This is pathetic and disturbing
An illegal immigrant who was struck and severely injured by a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle that also hit and killed his daughter is suing the government.
Lawyers for Juan Cruz Torralva accuse Border Patrol agent Gregorio Garcia of driving recklessly on the night of March 5, 2006, when he ran over Cruz and his 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes Cruz Morales, in the desert near Dateland.
Cruz and his daughter were on the final leg of a three-day trek across the border when they were hit. According to the suit filed last month in U.S. District Court in Tucson, Garcia was driving across the desert after another group of illegal immigrants at such a high rate of speed that he could not control his pickup or avoid hitting Cruz and his daughter.
According to the Border Patrol, the illegal and his daughter were hiding in the bush while inside the country illegally, so the Patrol never saw them. I think it is terrible that the man was injured and his daughter died, but, he put them in that position by coming to America illegally. He (obviously) should not have been in the country to start with, much less behind that bush, so, even if the agent was driving recklessly, the illegal shouldn’t have ever been there.
“The fact that he didn’t follow the legal process for immigrating to the country is no justification for taking the life of his daughter and leaving him incapacitated for life,” Camarena said.
Candy Camarena, the “victims” lawyer, is right. And the illegal should be prosecuted for involving his underage daughter in breaking US federal law and putting her in a position where should could, and was, killed.
This is a travesty. That our government has to spend one dime on this is nonsense. If these illegals weren’t in our country hiding in a bush, there would not even be a discussion. I feel badly for this man losing his daughter in such a sad way. But he put her in harms way, and the argument should end there!
